I am going but I have been there 3 times before and I have never seen us win. Maybe I am not good luck.
4th time is a charm ha. I’m spoiled I went in 17 and we won and then went back in 18 expecting the same thing and boy did I learn my lesson. It’s just a privilege to be there.
Wake forest, lsu and UF have to be the favorites going in (I know 2 of those teams haven't punched their tickets but imho it's just a formality). Wake and lsu look like juggernauts and the Gators definitely have that "it" factor this year. Anything can happen in Omaha and often does but I'd be surprised if it wasn't one of these 3 teams winning it all. For those that go to the tournament, is there a reason you don't fly into a nearby airport and stay like an hour outside of omaha? When I have to travel for a sporting event I like to use this approach and save alot of money on airfare and hotel. I've never been to the CWS though but have wanted to go ever since UF has been making regular appearances.
An hour east is essentially nothing. An hour south is essentially nothing. You might some random hotel somewhere or maybe something on airbnb. But likely noting nice and no airport nearby. 90 minutes or so north is Sioux City. Some options there. 45 minutes or so west is Lincoln. Lots of options are there. Des Moines is 2 hours away. KC is about 3.
if last year is any indication, group 2 won't debut until saturday https://www.ncaa.com/news/baseball/...-series-bracket-scores-di-baseball-tournament
I thought I heard an announcer say we're playing Friday. But my ears usually hear what they want to hear. Ask my wife. Go Gators
I thought I heard the announcer say at the end of the Virginia win today that we would face off in Game 1 on Friday.
I went back on ESPN app and watched the end of the Duke/Virginia game and they did say "Virginia will play Florida in the opening game on Friday." Hope that's right, I may go buy tickets to game 1 now.
The games are 2 and 7 Eastern from Friday to Wednesday. Thursday is TBD based on whether 1 or 2 games are played. Friday is dark. Saturday is 7. Sunday is 3. Monday, if the Gators need it, is 7.
In the past they have sometimes based it on TV's. I would think UF v VA would draw more than TCU v UO/ORU. But who knows.
I keep wondering if ORU makes it in and faces TCU, would ESPN want their Day 1 primetime spot to be two "Christian" schools facing off? Not trying to take this to Too Hot or anything but the possible matchup doesn't seem to fit the narrative for ESPN these days. All that to say, I wouldn't be surprised if this possible matchup was the early game and we get moved to the evening game even though UF/UV is East Coast and ORU/TCU is the underdog game.
No way ESPN turns down a no holds barred, once and for all, winner take all battle to determine the true sect of Christianity. History channel will likely broadcast as well.
So Jimmy then, he would be fun. I'd listen to him. Sadly tho it will probably be somebody pontificating about what a great story ORU is, necessitating the mute button. I think the Frogs roll either way.
