There is a middle ground. We can have the documents returned and not end this with Trump going to prison.
Yes, we could have if he had returned them the first time. Or the 2nd time. Or when he got the subpoena. Or when he lied to his attorneys so he could avoid giving them back.
Yeah, they tried that. He lied to FBI about that and took steps to keep them in his possession. That water passed under the bridge some time ago. Does he get a 4th chance or would it be the 5th?
That's just bullshit. Can you read? The question was: Why isn't there an "acceptable answer" to that? Seems practically rhetorical. You promised us you said your piece. Bye.
Because any answer we give will be mocked, dismissed, and ridiculed. Oh and grandstanding about how "nobody is above the law." Ya'll are out for blood and want to see him behind bars, elections and double standard be damned. Once that bloodlust has set in, there's no talking reason into anybody.
There’s actually an easy solution. Offer Trump a sweetheart deal where he can plead guilty, and fess up to his remaining “hidden stash”. If he cooperates: No jail. Just probation and fines (similar to Paetreus). If he lies yet again: straight to jail. What do you think? Can Trump do it? Considering the lengths he already went to, including moving documents to conceal their existence from his own lawyers. I’m thinking hell no. He can’t.
Dumb argument. Civil trials work differently. There is even talk of whether this is even a plausible crime as the Presidential Records Act is not a criminal statute.
If they offer him a deal that involves dropping the charges which only requires the return of the documents, and he still refuses, it'll be a Hell of a lot harder to defend him. What does the DOJ have to lose? It makes the DOJ look a lot more credible when they're already facing public trust issues, and if you're right, the DOJ won't even have to sink Trump, he'll sink himself.
After reading this thread I wouldn’t trust a single Trumper with anything more important than Coke or Pepsi.
People running for President where the FBI looked the other way on that very same issue with his political rivals get quite a bit of cover in the eye of public perception. This is specifically regarding a former President who is running for President. I ask again, what does the DOJ have to lose? If they offer Trump to get off clean if he just returns the documents while presenting him with the alternative of indictment... and he still doesn't return them... The DOJ looks better, Trump buried himself, and I think you'll see a lot more people stop defending him.
Let's be clear. Liberals are the mentally ill and the sheep that believe what they are told by the media. You really do believe what you are told by the main stream media and you fall in line with the narrative. You believe it even after they continually steer you in the wrong direction and deliver false information. Imagine supporting Biden and believing in our corrupt government. It's sheep squared.
He had that offer already and chose not to take it. Offer is off the table now. No one should feel any sympathy for him.
Wake me up when one of the left leaning news outlets has to payout nearly a billion dollars for lying to their viewers.
Then suffer the consequences of looking like this is about putting Trump behind bars, not about returning the documents. Because now you're coming out and saying that even if Trump returned them all, offer is off the table, and he should still be locked up.
