The last time Waldrep pitched against them he went 6 innings giving up 6 hits, 5 runs, 3 walks and 10 K’s…….if he is on he will have a bunch of K’s. The big hit he gave up was Petry’s 3 run shot which won them the game.
Agree 100%. Splits, deuce, change up early. Pitch backwards. Love going backwards anyway as far as pitching approach. Their tendency to sit fastball dictates this.
Remember, there’s a big difference between pitching off of your FB and pitching off of a well located FB.
Exactly…..belt high, center of the plate baseballs have a tendency to go for joyrides out of the playing field especially with the 2 teams that are playing in this series.
He has matured with every outing IMHO. He is a good one and will be a stud before he’s through at UF. Neely was pitching effectively with his FB on both sides of the plate last night until he left that one FB middle middle.
Yes sir, for sure. My concern would be that are number one and number two pitchers are not great locators with their fastball. Fished way advanced. Like I said kid knows how to pitch. Neely gets by almost exclusively using FB. When locating he’s really tough.
Fully agree on the USCe batters sitting dead red. Neely came in all pumped and throwing mid 90s up to 97 and he got the first two guys- 8-hole and PH with heat. When McGillis came up I said to the folks next to me-- don't throw a FB- throw a breaking pitch away and low maybe get the also pumped McGillis to chase... but Neely in a bit of hubris tried to throw a 96 FB past McGillis and he was sitting on it. Waldrep needs to mix up his nice array of pitches - and hoping he has control of at least 3 of 4 of them and I think we'll be alright. Let's get 'em right here. Agree on moving up the start time to 2pm as all indications are rain possible by 5pm... that would get us to the 6th inning or so. But of course NCAA officiousness (read stupidity) rules.
I am really interested to see how the Alabama/Wake Forrest series plays out. Will it be a dogfight or will Wake handle them fairly easily?
Bear in mind....lot of people traveling to the game lose their mind at a change in start time. Sometimes it's damned if you do and damned if you don't. All the games today are spaced by Ncaa edict for tv
If logic was used in scheduling that may have helped. Everyone knows this time of year Florida develops thunderstorms as the day progresses. Mid-afternoon is pretty much in the middle of the cumulous buildup! Things work out one way or another. Last night turned out rather nicely. Go Gators!!
Alabama/Wake Forest now starting at 2:15 on ESPN+ instead of Noon as scheduled. With 8 games being played today, there's no room on the regular ESPN channels if a game gets delayed. So let's hope the weather holds out for us today. Weather Underground is now showing mostly cloudy (no rain) from 3 pm to 5 pm, then "few showers" from 5 pm to 7 pm.
Said delay is due to a medical situation. Saw that someone who was there said it was someone on the espn crew.
AccuWeather Doppler still clear until 2:25 ( latest Doppler shows currently). 3:-3:30 different story. Moving game up an hour big difference.
