Trump is only being charged because after NARA asked for the documents nicely, he replied “my precious” and proceeded to hide documents in the bathroom.
Hate to tell you, but none of those are accurate. Hitler in particular facilitated the keeping and bearing of arms by German citizens by eliminating or ameliorating restrictive laws which had been enacted by the government preceding his.
If it were standalone charges for improper possession of classified documents without all the other surrounding facts, maybe. Based on what else is in the indictment? No. As I said upthread, I suspect if he just returned the documents when the government asked for them he’d have skated free. What got him charged is that, when the government came looking for them, he started hiding them, hid documents from his own lawyers responding to the subpoena (which made those lawyers submit false statements in response), and apparently expressly asked his lawyers to please just lie to the DOJ. That earned him all the obstruction and process charges, and once you’re lying to the feds to try to keep documents that you’ve already admitted you aren’t supposed to have and that they’ve asked for, they pretty much have to charge you for possessing them improperly.
Not rilly being discussed is the massive failure of control systems. He basically just boxed up a shit ton of classified docs & hauled them off to Fla. Classified docs showed up at Biden's house, Pence's house. Is anything being done to address this??? I think they should hire an outside firm the specializes in internal controls & get this shit figured out. This is 1 of my things & I'd be willing to help pro bono. This is not trivial.
He's not a real Constitutional lawyer. He's a propagandist with a law degree. Real lawyers, serious people, don't begin serious comments with nonsense like, "...the indictment of Trump by his political opponents at the Biden Justice Department..." He's a clown and a hack. And he's factually wrong on all his points. Either he is a complete quack or he is lying. Read it with critical thinking. Not a word of that tweet makes sense, does it? If it did, the POTUS would be an untouchable dictator who could just sell any US secrets to any foreign power he wanted to, because in his words, by touching them, they magically become his private property. In what kind of fantasy world could that be true? Don't take this one Foxpert's word on it. Use your own brain. Read the tweet. Try to figure out how it is remotely possible.
All of this superfluous, after the fact, stuff never happens if he has a legal right to obtain these documents. It's just another government (DOJ,FBI) burglary.
Which he doesn’t. And even if he did, if you think a subpoena is asking for documents they aren’t entitled to you respond by moving to quash the subpoena, not lying about whether you have responsive documents.
Really? Every other lawyer on earth is ignoring the Constitutional precedent...but this one guy that nobody but you has ever heard of, somehow knows a Constitutional secret that nobody else does?
Dude, don't be like that. You can look up each of the bullet points on that meme and find for yourself that they're not true. Apply your own brain, man. Don't just read what others say. As Ben said, there is a market for people to tell you every kind of bullshit they can think of that you want to hear.
It doesn’t take the Supreme Court (or a judge, or even a lawyer for that matter) to know that there’s not a “but they’re mine” exception that lets you lie in response to subpoenas.
I'm, not trying to throw shade on you, PD. I remember that you at least try to respond in a rational way when we disagree on politics. No shade intended, brother PD. Just having fun with our disagreement on this case.
Let’s not forget that wanna be neo-Nazi Jack Texeira fellow that was able to use his national guard intelligence clearance to log in and (download?) a ridiculous amount of Ukraine war intel all willy nilly to show off to his video game friends. Way too easy, and no apparent “need to know”.
A new possible precedence could be set in this case, if the law allows for hostile government agencies like the DO, FBI et all to subpoena former presidents on papers they legal obtained after the leave office. And that's really the crux of this case - Were the papers legally obtained.
