Diamond Gators (baseball & softball) is the very best board I've ever been on. With a few rare exceptions, people are knowledgeable and know how to debate without getting into personal attacks and general meanness. There are lots of passionate fans of both sports and, you're right, most watch all the games that are televised, many go to a lot of games, some know players, families, coaches, some are former coaches and/or players themselves and some know how to do research and share. On top of that there's a lot of humor and kidding around as well.
so, will Lexie now wait and see who gets hired? You can enter the portal....and with all regards to Hotel California...you can always leave.
Or Cat...don't forget about Cat. She has already coached some at Texas State. Frankly, she might be better than Monica. Monica throws balls you can't see. Cat throws pitches. (I know this is my fantasy but I am not giving it up until I have no choice.)
Lawrie has a pretty good broadcasting gig. Doubt she would give it up to take a big cut in pay and be locked in away from her young kids.
We're the only program that has the power to knock Oklahoma off of its pedestal. Have to let Oklahoma know, they aren't going to come in the SEC running things. lol
Turns out to be a pretty good night. FSU goes down two straight. They have, at this point, clearly surpassed us. Last thing we need is for them to win a National Championship. But they are young and talented and not going away. Walton has finally made the decision that had to be made. We have a chance to make a good hire....to develop three good young incoming pitchers....to perhaps get something in the portal to help the staff....and to start to right the ship that has been taking on water. If he had not made the change, I'm just not sure where we would be headed.
I, for one, have supported getting a female pitching coach who has learned the skills first hand and who can teach our pitching recruits added skills like the rise ball, the change up, etc., that keep opposing hitters off balance. I applaud Coach Walton’s decision, but also appreciate his class in making such a nice comment about Coach Bosch and his family.
Giving MB credit for Barnhill and E getting All American status was very classy but anyone who follows softball knows it was total BS. I am on the Monica bandwagon BUt I do know another name that I hope Tim contacts. Goodbye MB and good luck coaching in the mid majors or D2.
Perhaps I'm the only one but I was really struck by Patty Gasso's reaction post game. Lots of emotion but little of it appeared to be celebration. It was more, and she mentioned it several times, relief and exhaustion and the incredible grind and pressure of constantly having to meet and exceed already lofty expectations. I seriously wonder if she isn't reaching a point where she is debating if continuing with it is worth it.
