Isn’t that bad news for the case? She will basically rule for trump on every motion. And I assume if trump gets acquitted most of that cant even be challenged.

I don't think the government can appeal an acquittal not do I think they should be able to. A jury of your peers found you not guilty.

Yeah, I was making the point that if there is a motion that goes against trump and he loses, he can use that on an appeal. Unless they can do the appeal in real time during the trial, anything that goes against the feds they just have to eat.

The Southern District has a policy to prevent judge shopping that pulls in judges from multiple divisions when randomly assigning a case, so even if it's not filed in the Ft. Pierce division, it's possible she could get it.

It's not good news. But there's only so much irreversible damage she can do. And it will at least be amusing.

Why has he never just done the plugs? The expensive ones look pretty good.

Whatever happened in that vid is next level. Don’t know if he does the hair-in-a-can or what but it’s just not there.

Trumpist hypocrites who like to bark about law and order: how about we let a jury hear evidence and decide, you know....American justice versus let him skate just because you worship him?

If they're indicting him in the Miami division, as this Republican's tweet suggests, then I don't think it's going to Cannon. If my understanding of their internal operating procedures is correct, I believe she's eligible to be assigned cases in Ft. Pierce, West Palm, and Ft. Lauderdale. I don't believe she gets cases filed in Miami. But we shall see.

I thought I heard one of Trump’s lawyers or a talking head tonight suggest that West Palm venue isn’t out of the question?

Let’s not get too carried away, “take the guns first, due process second” is a direct quote from this purported champion of constitutional rights.

And, in any event, the weak spot in this “evil Dems don’t want him to run” theory is that most Dems I know would love to have him as the Republican nominee. Because they already know how a Trump/Biden matchup works out, and he’s a notably worse candidate now than he was in ‘20.

If you really wanted a conspiracy theory here, I’d almost go the other direction - indicting him increases the likelihood he’s the GOP nominee because it sucks up all of the media air, makes all the other GOP candidates have to talk about it, and activates the ability for him to whine about how this is just the deep state attacking him again (which has been a shockingly successful excuse for very nearly any failing he has ever had).

If they're filing in West Palm, I'm not sure why they'd summon him to Miami. But I don't practice federal criminal law in the Southern District, so I have no idea.
