Lagway may give pause to a few qbs over the next years.

I think he’s hedging his bets for if he can’t get into UF for ‘23, he’d have a good option for ‘24 since we already got our ‘24.

According to Zach Goodall, Simmons is in G'ville on an UV today. Perhaps we'll hear something definitive soon.

Maybe the trip to Ole Miss was a message to get the ball rolling.

I sure hope not....that wouldn't be reflective of very good organization at our staff level.

I respectfully disagree with you on this one. If Simmons is the QB that CBN was talking about adding to the roster for the upcoming season, just a few days ago, Coach needs to know one way or the other in fairly short order. Whether they decide to bring him in now or later, or the young man eventually goes elsewhere, the sooner we know where we stand the better. IMHO, it would be far worse to fiddle around and let a player as highly regarded as Simmons is get away because we want to appear to be "organized" in the eyes of the fan base or our many adversaries. And if the field has indeed shifted, we need to pursue a viable alternative ASAP. And if this is a case of a recruit being afraid of competition (which I personally doubt) we need to know that too. Just my take.

I think he meant the help deciding on what class to join ‘24 or ‘25

That's pretty much been done for a while too, unless they change course

It's my post you and Crusher are speaking about.

To clarify " get the ball rolling". I think Simmons wants to be in college in 23 or 24. I don't think he wants to wait until 2025. He turns 18 this Nov. Waiting until 2025 puts him behind age wise. It has also been reported that he now has 50 college credits through dual enrollment. Even waiting until 2024 would mean he would have his Bachelor's.
Going to Ole Miss was his way of telling UF to get things moving and let him reclassify now.

    This is just my opinion.

I essentially believe the deal has been done for quite some time for the young man to enroll early. I don't think there are any holdups on the UF side.

So you’re thinking he sees Ole Miss as a better fit?

I'm thinking they know UF is the better fit....but there is now always a financial aspect to every recruitment

But UF would only be a better fit if he reclassified to 2023, right? Because of DJ

I think the reclass has little to do with it.

I'm confused, the kid committed, aren't NIL deals consummated shortly thereafter?

Your post suggests to me he is renegotiating which is interesting. Kid is smart, looks like he's probing as to what leverage he can bring to bear, as any savy business person would.
