Hi wingtee - Unfortunately the "1% of the 1%" Meyer bragged about left plenty of ammo for the hit piece your talking about.

I think at 1 time UF and FSU were trading places with the most players getting into the most trouble when Meyer and Bowden were coaching.

I suspect this "hit" your talking about was influenced by all the crazy moves Meyer has been pulling since he left UF in his various coaching stops.

Sad but true. The same way Bowden (rightfully) gets crap for the shenanigans he allowed at FSU while touting his team as schoolboys, Meyer gets the spotlight put on him for what transpired from his “top 1% of the 1%” credo, in fact we should be happy that the creator of this project didn’t snarkily use that as the title of the documentary.

You don't think coaches say the exact same stuff all of the time? You know they do. They aren't international diplomats--just football coaches. They are just recruiting, and Meyer was good at recruiting.

Florida gets more media scrutiny for whatever reason, and Meyer got sick of the media when he was here and let them know it, so being the media, they launched their agenda, narrative and attacks, as only the corrupt, biased American corporate media can do (how dare you challenge me, my opinion, or my narrative?!?!? I'll show you!!!) and have harassed him ever since.

Do you really think Meyer had more bad players than plenty of other top schools?? How childishly naive. Other schools have more friendly and compliant police departments, which should be obvious to anyone with a brain.

The fact that the media is still working to smear him 15 years down the road, should tell you all you need to know about what is really going on here.

 

I don’t think it’s the individual incidents as much as the cumulative of incidents from UF and OSU. Also the allegations of his behavior towards players at UF and Jax. None of this was a good look coming from the guy who claimed to only take the 1% of the 1% or whatever that nonsense he used to spew here.

Meyer would let you take his wife and mom home for a threesome if it could get him a big win or land the right recruit.

On the positive side, if you ever happen to be in Columbus, I here the Grinders at Meyers place are among the best in the country.

 

The biggest one I remember was the Raney domestic violence/threat incident. I think it was 2010. I’m sure there are many more that never made the papers.

 

To believe CUM didn't know about the character of the players that were being recruited with his blessing under a singular objective of winning strikes me as whitewash. It's not Gator bashing to dislike bad actors casting shade on UF.

 

Meyer really liked the kids that were super athletes - twitchy guys that walked the edge. Some of them a bit maniacal and reasonably angry. Hernandez was one of the best non-traditional TE's ever. Joiner was great too. TJ deserves the death penalty IMO. Hernandez got his. But I suppose you have to believe in that for someone to deserve it.

Amazing teams Meyer had. Undeniably Bipolar.

Yes is does taint our brand, the University, the student athletes and everyone trying to do it right. I'm so done with it too. Thugs please apply somewhere else.
