This is perhaps the biggest risk with DeSantis. He seems to believe that as governor of the state, he is the state. Disney takes a position against me? They have taken a position against the state of Florida and can be punished using state resources.

I don’t like DeSantis’ action against Disney, but I understand the thought process and rationale behind it. He is listening to vast majority of Florida families who are begging him not to allow the progressive’s quest to indoctrinate their children on this transgender bullshit. So while I don’t like the action, I understand why he’s doing it and it’s not going to cost him his popularity, as a majority of Florida families simply DO NOT WANT that crap being pushed on their children. He is also pushing back on corporate wokeism, where big corporations use their influence (money) to promulgate harmful teachings to children.

Just curious, given the concern about having that “crap” being pushed in the children in Florida. How many people do you know who experienced having “crap” being pushed in their kids in a Florida school room?

I understand that many disapprove of Disney’s viewpoint here, but this hardly helps me to sympathize with the matter, as the whole point of the first amendment is protect unpopular speech. Imagine Newsome using the state to punish a business for saying there are only two genders. Of course some would applaud such an action, but I hardly think any of those would be from the group that is defending DeSantis’ retaliation against Disney. Believing in a cause should never give one the license to use the state to silence opposing views.

I spent some time with a hard core FL Republican friend this week. He used to love DeSantis so his evolving position surprised me. He is extremely disappointed with his inability to let this Disney thing go and how he keeps going down the deep end on schools and LGBT issues. Like he correctly stated, Trump would have declared victory months ago and moved on. DeSatis’ ego is a weakness.

He has now shifted his support to Nikki Haley.

Said it before, DeSantis will be the Scott Walker of the 2024 Republican presidential campaign.
    After Walker's victory in 2014
Scott Walker elected to second term, third election victory in four years
Several months after he launched his bid for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.

Well his national approval ratings have generally been less than 50% and he's currently at 39%. So no, most people don't love your governor.

Well, when all you listen to is MSNBC I don't doubt that you hear that LOL. Now, let's look at facts. IF what you say FL is the laughing stock of the nation then we would have people leaving the state. We both know that answer LOL. Maybe turn off MSNBC for 20 minutes, your life would be better for it.

That's great that UD does all that. It's also a fact DeSantis won big in FL and as Obama said, Elections have consequences. IF he's that unhappy, he can leave if he wants to. Beauty of this country.

Outside of Florida, Desantis isn’t popular. Many of his supporters are going to be sorely disappointed when he bombs in the primaries, if he hasn’t even dropped out at that point. Can anyone who supports him tell me five good things he’s done since he took over as governor? Additionally, can you tell me what platform he’s going to actually run on that doesn’t include imaginary culture war issues like “woke” which he can’t even correctly define? He’s done so much unmitigated damage to this state, it’s going to take years to recover.

Thats ahead of the 37% Biden had a few weeks back. Lets be honest, politicians arent very popular right now.

But Desantis has a very similar rating to Biden.

Interesting you quote Obama’s comment about elections have consequences. That comment was as idiotic then as it is now, and that comment sewed enormous discord and divide. Each side keeps trying to retaliate, and retaliation and led to incompetence in our elected officials.

Another right person totally off the rails.

The above post is completely out there.

Whatever is infecting the party has moderate folks going, I do not want to be a part of that. Vast majority? Where did you get this alternative fact? If you and Desantis think that getting voted Governor is a free pass to trample on the Constitution and half your constituents, you didn't learn from 2022.

Agree. I have left the right and am now more down the middle. I loved how DeSantis handled Covid in FL with a few exceptions, but he has moved too far right for me(abortion being number 1) to have my support anymore. Not many on the left agreed that Obama comment was a terrible thing to say. I do think if it's trump/biden in 24 that it would be the only time in a hundred years or so when the public would maybe think about going 3rd party if there was a viable candidate(I don't have one).
