You said “a group of us”so that means you included. Under reported is that you and a group of friends could only come up with $20. Did you break your piggy banks?

That's the only part of the elementary school D.A.R.E. program I remember, as well! The dude spent probably 10 minutes telling us all the different things that crack pipes could be made out of, showed us one made out of a chicken foot, one made out of an apple, etc.

I must have missed crack pipe MacGyver. Not even sure of the point of teaching kids objects you can make crackpipes with. What was the supposed lesson?

Are you honestly saying that you think a dirty pipe has caused a single crack addict to think, "you know what? I should probably not smoke this and go check myself into rehab?"

And also, for the record, angry/aggrieved =/= conservative.

Or "hey look, free crack pipes, now where do I get some of this crack I've been hearing about?"

I have no idea. I remember thinking at the time that it was weird & interesting what all crack addicts would do to be able to smoke crack, so maybe the lesson was supposed to be portraying how bad the addiction is to make people so desperate for a means to smoke it.

Looking back on it, I still am not sure how the hell that program was approved to be operated like that...

If I have to fund Marjorie Taylor Greene's salary and health benefits, and fund Ronda Santis's war on Disney and immigrants not in his own state, you may just have to deal with funding things you don't agree with, too.

Actually, I don’t, because I don’t live in a blue area where they expect taxpayers to pay for needles for heroin addicts to shoot up dangerous street drugs.

Then you're paying more in your taxes for hospitals to treat their diseases like HIV and Hepatitis. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Is there evidence that the availability of clean needles makes addicts less likely to hit rock bottom and want to get help? I don't know, but other countries have implemented needle programs, so there must be some data suggesting there are benefits. Either way, saying you'd rather addicts die sooner to save money doesn't seem to account for the fact that some percentage may turn it around if they live long enough to do it.

I agree with him. You are standing in ranks with the deplorables with comments like that. Maybe you always have.

"Futurerama predicted crack would be dispensed by vending machines, just like what's not happening in NYC". I fail to see the humor.

I do see an attempt to create confusion by making a sarcastic reference to Futurama that inaccurately links it to the current situation.
