Will be closer to 30 min for starters, which means the other guys will have to be content with playing half the game or less. Starters and guys coming off the bench don’t typically split time evenly.
How the Minutes would be distributed & what would the rotations look like were questions I had last year & again this year. Once all the dust settles on the last transfer, I do wonder what TG will do with the new mix of players. I’m not counting on any heavy usage ( more than 10-15 minutes a game) from any of the true freshmen, or Aberdeen, at this point.
I am pretty sure that Horford and Noah played about 25 minutes per game in each of the two championship seasons. I also remember that Mike Miller played about 28 minutes per game in the season in which the gators went to the national title game, and no one else played as much as 25 minutes per game. None of our bigs are going to play 30 minutes per game this coming season .If Zyon signs, I would expect the 120 minutes at the one through three to be divided fairly equally between the four key players, with Aberdeen hopefully getting some minutes. I don’t see anyone other than, perhaps, Kugel playing as much as 30 minutes per game.
On3 gives LSU a more than 50% chance of getting Zyon. If we don’t get him, there are still about 145 undecided point guards in the portal. I know practically nothing about them.
Without checking on them, I trust that your stated numbers are correct, so I’ll concede that you and @jeffphillips21 made a valid point.
Well that's kind of what I said. I don't know which two out of Clayton, Kugel, Richard, and Pullin would be content with that, but perhaps they will. I know that I never liked playing less than 30 minutes at any level I played in and I was nowhere near as good as these guys.
Florida lands UC Riverside transfer point guard Zyon Pullin UC Riverside transfer Zyon Pullin, the best men's basketball guard remaining in the portal, told ESPN on Wednesday he has committed to Florida. Pullin chose the Gators over LSU after visiting both schools in the past week. "Ultimately, I saw it as the best fit for me moving forward," he said. "It was a system that fit me and catered toward the style of play [I wanted]. They expressed needing a point guard, a playmaking kind of point guard. Someone capable of running the team." Pullin spent the past four seasons at UC Riverside, but became one of the more sought-after transfers when he withdrew from the NBA draft and entered the transfer portal. He is coming off a first-team All-Big West season, averaging 18.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists, while shooting 39.4% from 3-point range. He steadily increased his scoring production in each of his four seasons with Riverside, going from 4.1 points as a freshman to 12.1 as a sophomore and 14.3 as a junior before averaging a career high as a senior. This is the best Gator basketball news in a long time. He is the missing link to potentially a sweet 16 team. Congrats Coach Golden. Well done!
Would somebody get going on those 40 - 0 Tee's? I wanna get my order in!! Sending Jeff and Rem a courtesy t to wear!
I’m optimistic and hopeful for this season but I remember the 2019 roster when we got Blackshear and I thought things were setup for UF to have a terrific season. Lots of talent on that 2019-2020 Gator squad but it just didn’t work out the way I had hoped. So I’ll wait and see how things look once SEC season starts by which time this year’s Gator team will have had time to gell. Anyway, I’m still excited by the talent Coach Golden has brought to UF for the 2023-2024 season. Just hoping he can maximize that talent and get all these new pieces to play together as a cohesive team.
