By: Eric Fawcett -- June 6, 2023 With the Gators in need of a playmaker in the backcourt they now find themselves in a high-stakes recruitment for arguably the best player remaining in the transfer portal. Gators In Final Two Schools For Zyon Pullin | GatorCountry.com
Sounds like it's FL or LSU. From Eric's piece: Florida is the heavy favorite in the recruitment based on a mix of role, style of play, NIL, and a relationship that Todd Golden has with Pullin’s coach at UC Riverside Mike Magpayo who worked together at Columbia. Let's get him and then argue about who will be the starting guards. On that note, Eric seems to agree with me that Kugel could be the defacto PG and Clayton is more of a two. But who knows, if we land Pullin, it could be a three guard lineup with Richard being the sixth man and Kugel at SF.
I can’t see Kugel being the de facto point guard when he is on the floor with Pullin. Pullin is a pure point guard with a reasonable chance of being an All-SEC level point guard. From what I have seen of Pullin, he would be the best ballhandler on the Gators, and the best player on the Gators at getting into the paint off of ISO’s and high-ball screens. He also might be the Gator’s best 3-level scorer along with Kugel.
I agree. I think if Pullin commits, they'll play a 3 guard line-up with Richards coming off the bench. Pullin feels like the missing piece to being really good team. Fingers crossed.
Aw crap. Now I have a dilemma. Do I buy a new "40-0" shirt in my upsize or do I lose weight to fit in my old one? Decisions, decisions... BTW, thanks for choosing U of F. As they say...
