We’ve gone around about this before. You don’t/won’t understand the importance of school libraries, especially for the most educationally vulnerable students.
If someone doesn’t want THEIR child to check out a book there is a procedure for that. I’m at a loss as to why you can’t understand that.

    I’m SMDH

    1. Bestiality is not in the Bible per se. The law banning it is mentioned.
    2. I believe the banning is just for the King James Version correct?

Regardless, I think the OT should probably be left to be taught by parents. (I think the NT should be allowed to stay perhaps?) There is a reason children's Bibles exist. They are age appropriate versions.

Just put Children's Bible's in those libraries. Nothing to complain about in those.

Churches are not bleeding "school aged believers". They are bleeding adults. Gen x and millennials in particular. Many do return to their faith.

But school aged kids go to church with their parents so that claim has no basis.

Actually they are. The very young go with their parents because they have to, but only if the parents are church goers.

Well of course. The very young dont drive themselves. We go everywhere with our parents when we are very young and nowhere by ourselves.

Look I understand that a person’s spiritual health is just as important as their physical and psychological wellbeing. I believe many young people leave the church because they feel their spiritual needs aren’t being met, and the doctrine conflicts with their other beliefs.

We agree. Often the return to their faith is much more personal than they faith they often question in their youth.

They just arent leaving during school age.

You think all books should be available in school libraries. I don’t.

It’s ok that we disagree. At least on my end.

    Have a good day.

Bingo. Lots of articles on this out there. Younger people are much much more socially liberal in their views. This is in direct conflict to many, outdated Church doctrines. Which is why this attempt by the right to legislate Christian views/beliefs into politics, will backfire.

I’ve never said that, please be honest. Books that are age appropriate and vetted by professional staff should be available.

I feel like if a kid is mature enough to want to sit down and read the Bible on their own initiative, and if they comprehend the seedy parts, they're mature enough to handle the material.

My issue is “professional staff” can have different opinions on what is appropriate and not. I get your point, my “honest” opinion.

Funny, the Bible always comes up as one of those hypocrite allegations against censorship, e.g., the Bible (particularly the OT) is full of violence so why can't I read my Judge Dredd comics? At least the folks in Utah are consistent.

If Church attendance is declining with gen x & millennials, I anticipate their children’s attendance would also decline.

you’re probably correct. And I think that is the argument against banning books like catcher in the rye.
Especially as kids see much worse in all forms of media, including their phones which they have 24/7.

Sure, but according to those here on the right they should do it at home.

Sure, but she said school aged believers we leaving forcing their parents to want the schools to teach them the Bible.

That really doesnt seem accurate when you think about it.

Those who leave the church, likely dont want the school teaching them religion.

Compromise. We leave the bible in school libraries, but we put it in the Fiction section.

I get it's a joke. But I assume it's in the religion section where it belongs.
