What are you protecting your children from with a man wearing a dress working at a store in Disney? What danger does this man pose versus any other Disney employee? As for me, I don't mind exposing my kids to all kinds, as long as it's safe. And in a public place, employed by Disney, I'm 99% secure that my kids will be safe. Still doesn't mean I won't watch and be close by, but Disney employees on the clock, at a Disney park? Doesn't rank on the parental worry scale.
We get it…YOU don’t mind exposing your kids. Trust me, everyone knows. Now….is it at all possible that there are other parents out there that may possibly have different values than you? Not better or worse, just different. If so, why are you so intolerant of people who are different than you. Can’t you just let people live their lives in peace?
I think this is entirely the point that azcatfan was trying to make. Not everyone agrees in what is best for their children. Let the parents parent. And keep the government out of the parenting business.
It doesn’t seem like you read my post based on your response. I’ve laid it out fairly well why I feel the way I do. I protect my kids from strangers. I protect my children even more from those who have bad judgment. I also told you that appearance does matter and it’s unwise to associate with those who don’t value their appearance. It appears you can’t or won’t comprehend this point. Their is nothing bigoted about it. You ought to reconsider your stance in encouraging trans people who are are likely mentally ill. You’re on the wrong side of history and you can’t get off.
If it is just appearance and doesn't mean anything and not harmful, why are we tearing down statues? Why are renaming Army bases? They can't hurt anyone by just their appearance.
You don't see any difference between some guy wearing a dress and the naming of a federal military base after someone who took part in a rebellion against the United States?
You must have not been playing along in this thread. There has been so many leaps and conclusions made about bigotry and fear that why wouldn't you make the leap to this? If you don't like the statue just stay away from it, but that might make you a bigot. See how stupid the argument has been. Look everyone is allowed to raise their kids as they see fit for the most part, unless of course if you are a white conservative family, then you must accept any and all debauchery otherwise you are a bigot. Kind of stupid when it's put like that isn't it?
No, it is not. Nobody here is talking about the government stopping princess Bob. This is about whether it is OK for a parent to keep their children away from princess Bob.
Just like I can't wake up any morning in my life knowing what it is like to be a woman or a black man or really anything other than a white male, you can't wake up knowing what conservative white folks feel. So, a little less snark would be appreciated!
Parents have every right to keep their children away from Princess Bob or for that matter any Disney employee in a character costume. That being said the outrage over Princess Bobs is a whole lot of nothing. It seems to me from the video that he is nothing more than a greeter in a costume considering that there is never any indication that he actually accompanied young girls into the shop and furthermore I cannot imagine a parent letting a his/her young daughter go into a shop in a crowded theme park unaccompanied by a parent whether or not if there is a greeter in a drag costume by the entrance. This whole thread seems based on nothing more faux outrage.
Well here's the thing, if you want a nice cordial conversation on the issues, maybe don't attack the person's character by calling him a racist. If the other side leads with calling you a racist, they're not entitled to a pleasant discussion. If the conversation devolves once the racial accusations start, the person who hurled that initial accusation has nobody to blame but themself.
You're wasting your time, ridge. You can call other posters pigs, and point it out to the mods and they'll defend it. Then you call others mods pigs, and you'll get a "vacation." I know from personal experience. There's no consistency in the application of rules here and we're not going to get it. Either we accept playing with one hand tied behind our back or we leave.
