    LOL @ “ensure his re-election”

Indictments are considered a bad thing to those of us without brain damage. Ensure his nomination? Sure. Election? LOL

Side note: in hearing Trump talk recently, I get the feeling he’s leaving that proverbial door open for DeSantis to be his veep. Compared to 2016, he’s being extremely docile towards “DeSanctus.” And vice versa as well. It may get ugly at some point, but for now, they’re much more reserved than what we saw in 2016 from the GOP field then.

While not ruling out the possibility I think there is already too much animosity for that to happen. DeSantis is the only one his opponents and potential opponents that Trump has actually attacked and his superPAC is already running strong ads bashing Meatball Ron focusing on DeSantis's support of the FAIR (national sales) tax and privatizing and/or increasing the social security retirement age. I also expect Trump's personal attacks on DeSantis to get stronger as the campaign progresses and if DeSantis does manage to beat Trump in the Iowa caucuses as Ted Cruz did in 2016 I fully expect Trump to accuse DeSantis of election fraud as he did with Cruz in 2016.
Just a reminder of what the Donald said seven and a half years ago.
Trump accuses Cruz of stealing Iowa caucuses through 'fraud'
