lol -- I just posted this exact thought in the thread: :Softball NCAA Championships" I guess great minds think alike!
It was just a few years ago when we were on the same level as them. Better decisions would have still had us on their level.
It didn't help that their coach chose to not start her best pitchers. That was such a genius move by her to use her freshmen pitchers instead of her experienced pitchers against Oklahoma. lol
One of the graphics during the game -- the freshman Weekly started routinely throws 70MPH+ and OK hits .214 when facing pitching over 70MPH. Many of the pitches were 74MPH. Scared money don't make money.
At least we got to see Jen Rocca. Big deal that all your pitchers get to say they played in the World Series for one batter. If they put that on their resume, they better drop a footnote that it was just during garbage time.
What is somewhat depressing is Gators were 0 & 7 against teans in the WCWS. Hopefully that will dramatically improve.
138-4 record in 4 years with 2 state titles for the senior class. Got to be up there with one of the all time greats for a high school program.
Ava threw a one hit and 15 strike out championship game shutout. I haven't found her full batting stats but she did have at least one hit and one rbi:
Are these stats good? I think they're good: 5A UIL Softball State Championship Game MVP: - @LakeCreek_SB senior & @GatorsSB commit @avajbrownn 2 shutout victories in circle: 14IP, 4H, 0R, 2BB, 26Ks Semifinals: 7IP, 3H, 0R, 1BB, 11Ks Finals: 7IP, 1H, 0R, 1BB, 15Ks Back-to-back State Championship MVP's for Ava Brown

Oklahoma has been able to get quality transfer portal pitchers the last few seasons as well. Need that dominant pitcher in softball. Can’t win without it.
Not to mention their #1 pitcher, Jordy Bahl, who is only a sophomore and the #1 recruit in her class.
