There are guys on the squad that can start for good teams. Sully will keep everyone he wants, other than some of the guys he wants for back up duty.
Lastres entered the portal. I suspected he might given his lack of playing time and how well Heyman has done at the plate.
Critical to this topic is the incoming group of signers. I've read summaries for those players, but now can't find a signee thread. Did I just not look back far enough?
This is the good article I saw. Thx O-man. It's a very good mix of positions. Surely some are prime prospects for signing to go pro, but Sully usually holds on to most of his frosh. If that happens, transfers may help like this year- a Riopelle and a Waldrop can win a starting spot with some experienced backups mixed in. Dale Thomas may well win a position next year. There is experience returning all over the field and some lesser used pitchers surely will contribute next year. No catchers on this list, so Rene would have a chance to compete with Luke and Salvy or that may fall to a new name. Oops, Salvy's in the portal, too.
He's got to get a couple of catchers in the portal to back up Hetman. Lastres & Alvarez in the portal and no catchers in the signing class. Very crucial.
let's wait until the draft and the signing deadline to ascertain our needs. I imagine most of the players will be doing the same, particularly the draft eligible.
