Bryan Shelton stepping down. I get wanting to spend more time with your children but man, this to me is a bit puzzling given his relatively young age and coming off a National Championship just two season ago. Good luck and thank you for all you did for Gator Nation coach.

    Wow.
Hope it really is that simple, but really weird.

And now Stricklin is up, his hiring record is less than stellar.

We will have a new head coach in short order if things progress as I hope.

So coach, you had previously indicated that UF was close to bringing in a third top rated recruit in this recruiting cycle. To me this indicates a very recent decision made by Coach Shelton and probably taking the staff by surprise? Hopefully, this potential replacement coach you seem to allude to is in alignment with what you would expect for a program of UF's stature and not just another small program "up and comer". As stated by oragator above, that model has been extremely checkered the last couple of hires.

All of us close to the program hope that the UAA elevated associate head coach Mat Cloer to the head coaching position and Scott Perelman, the volunteer assistant remains on staff. The players AND recruits all seem to be hoping the same thing. As far as recruits we now have three on board in Aidan Kim, Jeremy Jin, and Mangus Johnson. A fourth recruit should be named very soon. There may be a fifth but only if it is someone who is exceptional.

Somewhere, a few weeks ago, I saw that this was expected in order to coach and be with Ben on the circuit. Perhaps that is the reason.

There was a tweet, that has since been taken down, talking about the natty's won under Stricklin. All of them have been won with coaches JF hired!

I posted that on the insider thread for this. If my math is right, 9 titles since he took over, all JF’s. I think he’s hired four coaches in that span and had to fire two of them already, and for reasons that went well beyond wins and losses.

Didn't he have to fire a women's bball coach, women's soccer coach, and a football coach? All his hires?

Haha, sorry yeah 3 of five then.
His two standing are Golden and Napier.
He did also give Nesty the womens swimming, but I don’t really count that one much, he already had the men. But that’s been the closest thing to a successful hire he’s had.

The decision is in the hands of the UAA administrators. The team was notified by Zoom meeting this morning that Coach Shelton was stepping aside to coach his son on the ATP circuit. Whether our AD listens to what Coach Shelton told him about assistant coach Mat Cloer and volunteer assistant Scott Perelman taking over the program is now in his court. Hopefully he will make a good decision that the current players and signed recruits can get behind.

It is early in the process of selecting a new head men's tennis coach. Our open men's head coaching position seems to be attracting quite a bit of attention across the tennis countryside. I don't think we will have an answer any time soon but I am quite certain in the end we will all be satisfied with the new men's tennis coaching staff.

The program proved that you can win a NC here, both on the men’s and women’s sides. Stricklin is good at the fundraising and facilities part so there will always be support for the coaching staff. Lets hope he can select the right coach.

His track record right now isn't very good. This would be a nice place to start
