no. from what little I watched it has an inherent bias but it is an entertainment piece put forward by a group with no political power to write/change laws.

will you answer my question now? what does removing the race element from the Rosa parks story say about the people who required that change?

Schools lost the people's trust in how they were teaching their students racial issues in American history. They would take derivative concepts from things like the 1619 Project and Critical Race Theory and DeSantis reacted to address that problem with some temporary casualties to things that should be taught.

See Above. That doesn't mean he was trying to take Rosa Parks out of schools, it means he was trying to take Marxist indoctrination disguised as racial issues in America out of schools and Rosa Parks was unfortunate collateral damage which should be isolated and temporary. That doesn't change the fact that the people who politicized the schools in the first place is what necessitated the reactionary policy.

Do you think Desantis governs for both sides of the aisle or only one side of the aisle? He said he will destroy leftism. Does that sound like unity to you? That he will govern the whole United States or just his followers? It doesn't matter. He is DOA in the presidential race.

Well look at the 7 who disagreed and it makes more sense. That's the DeSantis fan club here.

And Biden called "MAGA Republicans" the "real problem in America."

If you're looking for unity from politicians, you're going to be busy for quite a while, even from the guy whose biggest pitch was being THAT GUY.

https://sites.uw.edu/magastudy/demo... results make clear,at least a college degree.

They are a real problem. Look at the above link and tell me how they aren't a problem?

It's genuinely funny how little right-wingers have changed over the years. They were trying to remove "Marxist indoctrination" from schools in the 1950s and 1960s too. Hell, they tried to label the "race baiters" in the 1960s fighting for equal rights as "Marxists." The more things change, the more regressive reactionaries stay the same.

I'll go a step further...if my choices are people wanting to destroy the other side or solar power and EVs. I think that's an easy choice. Do you honestly think Desantis or Trump appeal to the middle?

If your views are so extreme that they cost you elections(see abortion). Maybe, just maybe, it is time to re-evaluate where the party is heading. It is hard to enact policy when you are on the sidelines. I think that many of you on here think the rest of America is going to be like Florida or wants to be lie FL. Buddy, you are in for the surprise of a lifetime.

Yeah it's all the same, but now it's just leftism in general. DeSantis just said that he would destroy leftism in this country if he becomes president. That just blows my mind. That's roughly 50% of the country he's talking about. What's he going to do, send us to re-education camps? Concentration camps?

You started off on this forum somewhat reasonable asking reasonable questions. Now you're just acting like a kid in middle school calling the other kids names who won't do what you want them to do. :D

When Biden calls out half the country, it's good, when DeSantis calls out (maybe) half the country, it's bad.

How about this, find me a genuinely "unifying" candidate who meets people in the middle and doesn't just want "unity" by clubbing the other side into submission and I'll consider them. Funny enough, I think Haley is the closest one who fits the bill for that, but she won't be given credit for it. And frankly, Republicans should only want a unifier if Democrats are interested in unity (meeting in the middle), and I don't think they are.

even Florida is realizing that they don't want to be like Desi

'Backlash to the backlash' is seeing reddest parts of Florida rise against DeSantis' right-wing crusade: columnist - Raw Story - Celebrating 19 Years of Independent Journalism

The wave of right-wing populism that carried Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) to a decisive reelection victory in November appears to have hit a wall.

A Tuesday night school board meeting held in a county DeSantis won handily saw furious teachers, students and parents railing against right-wing efforts to reshape the Sunshine State’s educational system – a clear sign of an emerging “backlash to the backlash, Washington Post columnists Greg Sargent and Paul Waldman wrote Thursday.

“By now, it’s obvious that the reactionary culture warriors who want to reshape American education are inspiring a serious liberal counter-mobilization in response,” Sargent and Waldman write in an opinion piece for The Post published under the headline “In a deep red Florida county, a student-teacher revolt shames the right.”

“Remarkably, this backlash to the backlash is gaining momentum in some of the reddest parts of the country.”

he didn't call out half the country, he called out the radical elements of MAGA, and that isn't anywhere near half the country

Like clockwork. That's all you guys got so you keep tooting that horn. Truth be damned, fear-mongering and race-baiting is certainly an effective persuasive device for a lot of people.

As far as the 50s and 60s, my family was fighting self-proclaimed Marxists just South of Florida.

That is not what I said. My goodness.

She is obviously a civil rights icon that has nothing to do with Marxism.

I'm saying the legislation was passed to stop Marxist indoctrination and context behind the Rosa Parks story was temporary unfortunate collateral damage. The legislation was not passed to take Rosa Parks out of school.

DeSantis’s Approval Rating in Florida Is Four Points Higher Than It Was Before His Reelection | National Review

"Ron DeSantis’s approval rating in Florida is now four points higher than it was in September 2022, just before he won reelection by a remarkable 19 points. Back in September, his approval rating was at 55 percent. Now it’s at 59 percent. This is just three points off its highest peak, which was 62 percent in March 2019. The gap between DeSantis’s “approve” and “disapprove” rating is 20 points. Among independents, he’s at 59–38 approve/disapprove (which is almost identical to his overall numbers). Among Hispanics, he’s at 56–41. Among African Americans, he’s at 29–70."

"Mason-Dixon also shows that DeSantis is more popular in Florida than both Joe Biden (whose approve/disapprove is 35–60!) and Donald Trump (whose favorable/unfavorable is 39–53). Among Republicans in Florida, DeSantis’s favorable number is 87 percent, compared to 71 for Donald Trump."
