There was no sandbag lying on the stage. From the photo it looks like he might have tripped on the base of the microphone. Which must mean he went out of his way to trip on it.
Why would a 78-year old man who tripped and fell be the laughing stock of the world? He might be the laughing stock of cruel people, but not of the world.
Much of that was because of Trump’s absurd attempts to justify his slow walk down the ramp. Say what you will about Biden, he’s not prone to that kind of immature pettiness or vanity.

The fact that he has the humility to laugh at himself shows how resilient he is and how comfortable he is in his own skin.
