What exactly are you looking to debate specifically? It’s a headline reference to a fox article about an organization I’ve never heard of that looked at 5 years of which 4 were budgeted under Trump.

“The U.S. government has given Chinese and Russian entities at least $1.3 billion for various research programs over the past five years, according to an analysis released Wednesday by Republican Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst and watchdog group Open the Books.”

Actually all five were budgeted under Trump considering that the 2021 fiscal year actually began on October 1, 2020.

    Wow
What difference does it make who the president was? Are we that fixated on our teams winning points?
Do any of you who posted think sending that money to China/Russia was a good idea? Do any of you feel good about supporting the Wuhan lab? At some point we all need to realize that there are two teams. The political elites (republicans and dems) who care only for their own power and money and the rest of us.
I don’t care who the prez was…. Stop sending money to these countries for dangerous, stupid, reasons.

Is it ok that since the poster has not responded in 24 hrs that we consider that the mentioning of the article was intended to put a unfavorable light on the current WH and that it seriously backfired?

TBH, US an audit of US Foreign Aid would make us all puke. Maybe not for the same things, but we would all puke.

You have missed the context. The OP recently announced his defection from the Democratic Party and he is apparently now a Republican. While the party officials are still reeling from that announcement, the OP has continued to start threads that are very pro-MAGA in terms of race and other matters. Had he realized that these expenditures were initiated during Trump's administration and with his approval, this is one "Create Thread" button that would never had been clicked.

Sure seemed to help us with CoVid.. unless you still think it came from a bat in a wet market.
We do study viruses but we do it in secure lanes with oversight. I trust the US far more than China on that score.

You trust the United States more because you have been programmed that way. There have been multiple "leaks" from US labs, as well as from the supply chain.

Yes, we study viruses in the United States. I would still prefer that they do it in another country, half of the world away and without having to transport infected animals and tissue into this country.

As to the origin, we will like never know for sure where the outbreak originated, but we are fairly certain it was not created in some lab in Wuhan. Further, as we have no idea what the natural reservoir is, it pretty much rules out a lab leak, because to have it leak from a lab you would have to have had samples of both the virus and the reservoir. Finally, the genetic sequences from the market that were finally posted to an international server, Research Square, in March of this year confirm SARS-CoV-2 present at the market, confirmed SARS-CoV-2 was present in multiple mamal species known to be easily infected by other corona viruses like Civets and Raccoon Dogs. Finally, it was shown to have been present in the waste water samples collected from around the areas where the Civets and Raccoon Dogs were known to be sold.

So yeah, I believe that the Chinese transported an infected, illegal animal into the market. It infected other animals and once there was sufficient infection it "jumped" speicies.

If you believe different, that is fine, I am not trying to convince anyone, simply explain my position since it was called into question. I would be curious to know what your theory is and what data and information you used to form that opinion?
