I don't assume everyone who disagrees with me is lying about their true views and feelings. If I did, discussion would be pointless. If you really believe that all of us who disagree with you are lying, the fact that you waste time engaging at all is odd to me. If I really cared about toeing the line here, I could pretend to think drag shows are really cool and fun. Like I said, I don't get the fun or appeal of cross-dressing. That doesn't mean I have to be angry or upset about it either.

You're right that not all disorders are equal for this reason.

I don't think we should treat trans people in the same way we treat serial killers. But we need to shield kids from the influence that this sort of thing is normal.

If you're a rational person, the people who support someone's argument should have no effect on the quality of the argument itself.

The concern isn't normality. It is acceptability. It is whether somebody should accept the existence of trans people not whether transgenders are rare or "normal."

Who are we scoring points with? This board is relatively anonymous, I assume people are more truthful and less tactful here no matter what their politics are. The opposite of real life basically.

    Trying to be honest here.

Trans folk (especially of the male to female variety) does give me cause to pause and does create a level of discomfort or should I say akwardness. (On my end). Gay men, no issue for me whatsoever unless I'm getting "hit on" and then I just say to that person: "Not the cut of my jib".

I'm not a psychopath so causing harm to others, no matter how weird they dress or act is not my thing. I prefer quiet disengagement. Fights, police, destruction of private property, has never been up my ally.

Trans person used to work at Right Aid I frequented, never an issue for me of course because I tend to keep my mouth shut around people I don't know or am unfamiliar with. That person was nice enough although I was not impressed with the hair color.

As far as lipstick, the only lipstick I want on me is if a woman plants a nice big kiss on me.

If we shield the kids away from trans people, then they won't become trans themselves? This makes zero sense. We've been shielding kids from trans people for generations. Yet a there remains trans culture and trans people.

I prefer to open my kids' eyes to what is really out there, warts and all, while keeping things age appropriate. Seeing a man in a dress? Nothing sexual about it. It's a simple answer. People are different and different isn't bad or good, it's just different. And if a man feels happy and comfortable in a dress, why shouldn't he be allowed to wear one? What difference does it make to you, me, or anyone else? And besides, we are all different in our own, unique ways, and treating other people's differences allows us to hopefully be our own, unique selves and to be treated in the right way.

Nothing not age appropriate. Nothing sexual. Nothing hidden either. And the next time one of my kids runs into a trans person and I'm not around, I hopefully don't have to worry how they will react.

You don't think the company you keep is a reflection of yourself? If a bunch of anti-trans people agree with you, what does that say about you? I don't want that Bluke person agreeing with anything I say. Aren't you the one who thinks he's at WAR?

I don’t think all libbies are dishonest. There is a reason I responded to you and not others.
I also would argue some are unaware of themselves as I’ve said before, everyone has a blind spot.

I think some folks on the left like the way they look to others.
I also think this place serves as rehearsal for lawyers and professional debaters.
The board gets the most honest posts consistently from about 6 posters total.
I could name them but you wouldn’t like it.

Now here’s an honest post from a liberal. I had to scroll up after reading a bit to make sure I knew whose post I was reading again.
Well said and I have to say in public I treat everyone the way I want to be treated.
But on this board and in private with only a handful of close friends, I’d reveal that trans is a strange thing. I don’t think it will ever be completely accepted to the masses.

Gatorhead is a rational Lefty. But he's usually great in the Swamp Gas forum. ;)
