Ha, no, they were not trying to be passable and were certainly not based on pictures I saw. I obviously have no moral issue with cross dressing whether it's done seriously or as fun, but I personally have never understood the entertainment value. Maybe I just know how bad I'd look in a dress. Even having seen clips of drag shows, I feel like I'm not getting it; kinda like me watching Mr. Bean or Benny Hill and wondering why others find them entertaining.

Another example I've thought of is that my first 45 record (record players were for music, lol) was Culture Club. I must have been in kindergarten and loved the song Karma Chameleon. That cover had Boy George on there with very bright, exaggerated makeup. I recall noticing it and thinking it was cool or even pretty. Nowhere in my young mind did I wonder about his anatomy or sex life. I remember years later someone referring to him as gay and thinking that made sense. Speaking of NOLA, when I was in my 20's and mentioned a planned trip to NOLA, my grandfather (who was a Christian and from Mississippi) told me to be careful on Bourbon Street because I could accidentally get a handful of balls if I wasn't careful. We all laughed. Maybe it was just my family, but I just don't remember a lot of concern about any of this stuff back then.

    Wow!!!
    26 pages!!
To sum it up the folks on the right feel that it is inappropriate for a dude to be dressed as a girl at a little girl dress shop. That is all!!!
Folks on the left, if you don't think like we do you are a bigot, racist, redneck, any other number of derogatory terms multiple times.
I don't get that some of you can't accept that some of us don't want to accept this as normal. No matter how much you rail on about it. And no matter how tolerant you try to be to be, it is just not normal for a dude to dress like a woman and deep down everyone one of you agree with that. Never admit it,but guarantee that is the truth.

The only thing you left out was this: "cultural standards don't exist or don't mean anything unless they're cultural standards we like, then everyone else should be expected to play by the rules of the cultural standards we like."

It's incoherent, it's nonsensical, it's childish, and above all, it's stupid.

Some argue that being trans shouldn't be a thing because someone should just be, dress, and express themselves however they want without purporting to change their name and gender identity; they argue that transitioning doesn't make sense. I'd probably agree in a perfect world. But your aversion to men dressing like women is illustrative of the fact that people do, in fact, expect people to confirm to such norms. Notably, while there are people like Brother Jed who call women whores for wearing pants, there's noticeably less anger when women forgo makeup, wear traditionally male clothing, etc. Most of the discomfort/outrage is in one direction.

The question isn’t that you don’t accept that as being normal, that’s been made fairly clear. The question is what are the things you DO consider normal?

I refuse to ask that question because what the right considers normal might be a piñata full of spiders I don’t want to take a swing at.

That great and all. But if I want to walk around naked in my yard, my neighborhood or wherever, I can try it but many folks won’t like it.
If you’re a dude and you put on makeup and a dress, I won’t like it and I will avoid it.

No idea. Why only Disney was mentioned is a question I’d like to know the answer to.

Also most of the posts from the cons are honest. I could easily play nice like the libbies in here and say all the right things to score points. But in reality, you libbies are full of shite.

I don't think the one you're talking to is full of you know what.

He's not conservative, but I think he generally engages with us pretty honestly.

Love and tolerate but keep them away from me and my daughters?

So, because you think you are "being nice" about it that somehow excuses you from the definition?

One look at the list of folks supporting this post. Best post ever? You think those names help you or hurt your argument?

You really can't come up with a way to have that conversation without talking about penises or vaginas? Here let me help you:

Child: Dad, why does that guy have a dress on?
Dad: It is rare, but some guys feel more comfortable in dresses. It is often something hard for the people who are like that, so we make sure to treat them just like we would anybody else, even though they are different.

Much less bigoted than saying that I don't want a trans person anywhere near my kids and not at all sexualized.
