I'm sorry, but that is actually bigoted. That person hasn't done anything to earn that treatment. It fits this part of the definition: You don't want a person near your daughters because they might be trans (another option, of course, is that it is a person not bothered by wearing a dress and just wanted a job). Now, you will have a heavily emotional reaction, because that isn't how you view yourself. But it is how you just behaved. And that gap between how you want to view yourself and be viewed and how you acted is not because somebody pointed it out.
Winner. I have a 4 yr old grand daughter and she would probably think nothing of the Disney character, probably just laugh and move on. Don't know anybody that lets their kid try on clothes with an adult they don't know. Just another made up "outrage". Having to talk to kids about guns/school shootings is not even close.
Wow. This has been a very, um, enlightening thread. I learned a lot in the handful of pages I perused. Yikes
You totally missed the point!!! So, I guess there shouldn't be an age limit on purchasing alcohol? I guess if a five-year-old can reach the pedals they should be able to get their driver's license. Should be able to vote at like 12 years old. Join the Army at 10 if you can shoot!! Take 13-year-olds to XXX theaters? Should I go on? Most everything has an age appropriate, that's the culture war I think most conservatives are fighting.
That’s awesome that you guessed what your granddaughter would say. I did a sample this morning as well. I asked my 13 and 10 year olds what would you do if you walked into the bippity boppity boutique and there was a dude in a dress trying to show you clothes…one said uhhhhh, that’s weird, I would say no thanks. The other said I wouldn’t even walk inside. I laughed pretty hard at their genuine replies.
"lezzie?" I haven't heard that term in decades. What is this, the 1990s? P.S. I bet you have bought clothes from a lesbian. Ya just didn't know it.
That’s a compliment, thank you. I love being compared to a strong intelligent woman that kicks republicans butts on a daily basis.
And here’s another scary part of the story. We have to explain these things to people on the board who many are educators!
I dont think the pedo angle ever even crosses my mind. Some of us just believe in gender as we have always known it and dont want our kids being confused by all of this craziness. This just seems weird because of all the places to place this employee, that door to that store seems an odd choice. It's sort of like I dont want my kids listening to the chauvinistic hip hop that is the norm. That doesnt make me racist if the artist is black. We can want our kids to be a certain way and want them not to be influenced by certain things. We can do this and still teach a tolerant and loving approach to everyone That is part of parenting. That is a big leap from actual bigotry.
Yea, I'm sure that happened. You really think a 4 yr old would be concerned given all the Disney/cartoon characters around. You need to get out more if so.
The proper analogy would actually be if you forbid all music by black people. Then, it would likely mean you were racist. You are arguing how you don't want trans people near children, basically treating them like they are sexual predators just by existing. That is actual bigotry.
