Definitely agree with that. Here's hoping these QBs can figure it out because they will need to utilize play action passes to TE and connecting on balls downfield to prevent defenses from all just stacking the box and pressing.

No doubt....I'm still having nightmares of the AR pass that sailed 5 yards over a wide-open Odom's head on that critical play against FSU.

I know, in those days as soon as we crossed the 50 I yelled to just kick the field goal. Lessened the likelihood of having a turnover.

Most of what you say makes sense to me, floridagatorman. But I don’t think Mertz can be considered a backup QB this far into his career. He was a starter at Wisconsin practically from the get-go.
Maybe I’m wearing rose colored glasses, but I’m betting dollars to donuts we will see improvement at QB production. I believe this because I think the short passing game is very important to Napiers offense and it was just plain awful last year. Of course if the O line doesn’t gel, all bets are off.

Ahab, I think your rankings are closer to the truth than Dooley's list.

But I was also note that the difference between LB and TE are probably very minute... but I do feel like the QB is the hardest one to truly judge.

QB could be way down the list, or just more a of an unknown. I just hope we have the manpower/personnel to put a stout O-line on the field, because not only is our QB counting on them to be good at pass blocking, but our great running backs need them to be proficient at run blocking too.

The O-line and the defense need to be much improved from last year to score the points to win the tough games this coming season, IMHO.

Yeah I agree with that and I just meant ideally he would be fighting for the backup spot. If any of the other QBs we've been courting worked out, they would likely be the leader for the starting position. I mean just imagine how differently we would all be talking if it was McCall, Mertz, Rashada, and Miller...or replace one with Evers...or any of the other transfer QBs that moved to SEC teams. I do think he has a chance at being special, but it feels like the odds are low.
