9 injured, including children, in Memorial Day shooting on Hollywood, FL beach

    Nine people were injured Monday evening when gunfire erupted along a beach boardwalk in Hollywood, Florida, authorities said, as people ran for cover near a crowded beach boardwalk on Memorial Day.

    Police responded to reports of a shooting at 6:42 p.m. and found nine victims with gunshot wounds at the scene, said Hollywood Police Department spokesperson Deanna Bettineschi during a Monday news briefing. The nine victims were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital and Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital after receiving aid at the scene.

    The nine people hurt included six adults and three children, according to Yanet Obarrio Sanchez, a spokesperson for Memorial Healthcare System. All of the victims were in stable condition, she said. Bettineschi said four children between the ages of 1 and 17 were hit, along with five adults between 25 and 65.

    Preliminary investigations revealed that an altercation between two groups "resulted in gunfire," said Bettineschi. Police detained one person of interest but later said that they were looking for more suspects.

    It was pretty obvious what the 2 groups of people would look like the way the original story was written. The press simply calling them two groups of people we knew they weren't MAGA types or white supremacist.

    If you had left the tweet out you would have been OK. The tweet tries to blame this on permitless carry. However permitless carry isn't even legal in Florida yet.

    Ok as of now 5 handguns have been recovered of which 2 were stolen......Damn that DeSantis and his permitless carry law. But when "2 groups of people" get into a fight this is what you can expect. Sorry folks we all knew what this was as soon as the story broke.

    News just said there were 17 over the weekend (new def of 4 shot not killed) no coverage of how that breaks down. Maybe 9 in Chicago and 7 at Disney film openings ;)
