They will have to hire a successful Group of 5 coach or a really hot Midwest name. No one that is really good from the South wants to play or coach there when it is still freezing in April and the team can't really practice outdoors for 6 months a year. Besides that there are High Schools in Texas with better baseball facilities than Misery trout's out there. Our softball facility is better than their Baseball "park", unless you like aluminum temporary bench bleachers!

I posted in the other "coaches fired" thread of this possibility, but didnt think Mizzou cared enough about baseball to actually make the move. Mizzou really should be a big 10 school.

I don’t think they’re good enough academically to get into the Big 10. If they were better at sports that might make up for that, but supposedly the Big 10 has told them often that they aren’t interested.

They should be a Big 12 school.

Mizzou is better academically than Nebraska.
The talk has always been that Mizzou was offered junior membership in the big 10, which would have meant years of decreased revenue, so they said no. Nebraska said yes.

But does the Big 12 have a future?

Their academic rankings have declined from the time they joined the SEC but it still s/b good enough to get in the big 10 IMO. They're still better at sports than a couple of old Big 10 schools.
I thought they were supposed to bring good basketball, upgraded academics and another tv market to the SEC. Doesn't matter tho, dont think they are going anywhere.

Believe it or not, Mizzou has won a baseball NC. Believe it was in the 50s but they did so as part of the Big8.

They got that over the Holes.

Funny, also I think Minnesota has 2 or 3 from back when Eisenhower and JFK were presidents. Then USC and Ariz St got on a roll and the Big 10 hasnt been heard from since.

Even Georgia struck gold once. Only fool's gold for the Noles.

Minnesota, Mizzou, Michigan, Ohio State, Wake Forest, Pepperdine (Andy Lopez) among others.

Yeah, it must be killing the Holes not to have one. I swear if Sully wins his second before F$U wins their first…….

Nebraska also has/had some football tradition, with a massive and passionate (delusional?) fan base, and a top 5 volleyball program. That’s the part that makes up for their meh academics in Big 10 eyes.

My Michigan donor buddy says the Big 10 isn’t at all interested in Missouri, despite Missouri wishing it so. Who knows.

Either way, Missouri is an awful fit for the SEC, and I don’t think anyone can change my mind.

Considering the geographic center of the lower 48 of the US lies somewhere around Lebanon, KS, most of the state of Missouri is to the southeast of said point.

That being said they don’t fit in the SEC at all. Thay may share a big border with Arkansas and a small one with TN and KY, but there is little in common between them and the rest of the SEC.

Hold on there! Mizzou is one of only 4 schools in the SEC that is a member of the prestigious American Association of Universities. UF, ATM, Vandy are the other 3.

My UF admin connection says the AAU isn’t nearly as big of a deal as it used to be. It’s by no means a bad thing… but lots of schools being grandfathered in who have no business being amongst the others.

UGA, for example, is a better school than Missouri by pretty much all accounts, yet isn’t AAU… and I absolutely despise UGA.

    Anyway. F Missouri.

Just a reminder Nebraska was AAU at the time they entered the big. I think they were on probation but assured the big they would solve the issue. A couple of years later they were kicked out of the AAU.

UGA no medical school. Pretty much need one to be in the club.

Nebraska was in and got kicked out.

Mizzou is decent academically. But they’re midwesteners all the way and fit in better with the B1G. Then again we just added TX and OK cowboys to the SEC so we’ll see how this all goes.

Nebraska has a decent medical school (in Omaha, not Lincoln) and got kicked out. The internal rift between those is part of why.

As always, C.R.E.A.M., which is why OU and Texas are SEC bound and college sports are more unlikeable than ever… but I digress…

Anyway. Mizzou is a terrible fit in the SEC, none of the athletic tradition of OU/Texas and none of the money…

Missouri needs to commit to building a new ballpark and then go out and hired Arky asst or former TAM coach Rob Childers

Crescent - I am agree 100% about Mo. I screamed loud and hard on here when everyone it seemed was hyped about them joining. The only thing they bring is a school that Vandy can beat out for the all around sports trophy. The 2nd to worst facilities in the SEC. No TV audience everyone thought they would bring (this market only care about the Cardinals and the Royals with the Chiefs in a solid 2nd or 3rd). The first year they entered, I went to the game there and all the "tailgaters" were watching was Cardinal Baseball. I went a local Sports Bar after the game, about 50% crowded and I asked them to turn on the SEC game and the bar person said, "who is on that?" That told me everything I needed or wanted to know about them. At least TX & OK bring a large and very loyal following, even though UT doesn't think their poop stinks and God anoints them as the greatest athletic power and #1 in every sport, so say their fans.
