Cannot speak for him but speaking only for myself I voted for Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden in 2016 and 2020 respectively. I would have gladly voted for John Kasich or Mitt Romney if either of them were running. Considering that the alternative was the Orange POS there was little doubt that Clinton and Biden were the clearly superior choices, not because either of them were great candidates but because the alternative was far worse.

I'll cut anyone slack for voting for Trump in 2016. Anyone that voted for him in 2020 I'll judge.

Absolutely. Although I didn't vote for him in 2016 I was hoping that after he was elected in 2016 and took office Trump would grow into the position of POTUS. I was hoping that candidate Trump with his appeal to racism and nativism and his simple solutions was only a character that he had created and that he would compensate for his lack of experience by relying on the advice of competent and experienced advisors once he took office. In the end Trump the president was even worse than Trump the candidate. Rather than growing into the office Trump diminished it like virtually none of his predecessors.

No, this has nothing to do with DeSantis.

I am just pointing out that Trump is an absolute lunatic completely inexorably focused on himself and nothing else.

Feel free to disagree with me that Trump is an absolute lunatic completely inexorably focused on himself and nothing else.

Can't disagree with that, but I thought that trump was a misogynistic crooked con man at least 7 years ago and have been both amazed and sad that some friends supported him, so welcome to the club.

Disgusting, but typical for Trump. Biden’s speech at Arlington was disgusting as well. Memorial Day is the ONE where all Americans should drop politics and honor those who have served, particularly those who gave their lives. To see these two making political speeches and statements really pisses me off. It shouldn’t, because we all know who these men are, but it does because they can’t even unite the country for 30 minutes or so once a year!

Maybe, but we all knew who Trump was in 2016. I do recall some reluctant 2016 Trump voters hoping that the presidency would change him. And it did -- for the worse.

Until you can get past this “both sides” level of apology making, you will continue to experience off the reservation candidates. Saying Biden was bad too is just a way of excusing Trump, or whatever future nutjob the republicans put up.

It's just comical. And he voted for Trump twice. Get ready for a lot of Trump-bashing from former Trump supporters who now support DeSantis.

Not making excuses and certainly not apologies for either of their sorry asses. Today was a shitty performance by both of them. Simple.

Trump is a clown, and a sorry excuse for a man. Biden is a sorry excuse for a man, and an opportunistic hack.

Maybe you can point out the specific parts of Biden's speech that were as bad as Trump's tweet.

I started bashing him in March of 2020, when he agreed with the little moron to shut down the economy.

His speech seemed rather innocuous, filled with the expected platitudes. Which part did you find disgusting and divisive, specifically?

DeSantis has always been douchey, but initially he governed from the center right, and did a few reasonable things, in spite of MAGA rhetoric. Now he has gone off the reservation…why? Because republicans will always engage in “both sides” rationalizations and support you anyway, until it becomes completely untenable, and then maybe you lose a few percent of your support.

If Republican politicians thought nutjobbery will not be tolerated, they wouldn’t do it.

But you Tilly and others when discussing Trumps awfulness (which you were ok with with for many years ) ALWAYS have to interject “But Biden/But Democrats”. It is just an excuse to allow you to vote for him again if necessary, or the next nutjob du jour.

That's funny. One of the more prudent things Trump did is what you find objectionable. And what about DeSantis? He did the same thing.
