    Gotcha, not at all.

NY law graduate uses graduation speech to claim laws are 'white supremacy' | Daily Mail Online

" Yemeni immigrant Fatima Mousa Mohammed user her commencement speech at City University of New York's law school on May 12 to claim that laws are 'white supremacy' and attack American institutions for being 'fascist.'"

" Mohammed blasted the NYPD and the US military as 'fascists' and called on her peers to continue to 'revolution' against capitalism and racism across the country. "

"The future lawyer claimed that black and brown prisoners are murdered daily in US jails, and turned on her own university for 'cooperating with global violence.' "

"Mohammed started her speech by saying: 'I chose CUNY school of law for its articulated mission to be law in the service of human needs. "
Edited down to 4 paragraphs, read the rest at the link above.

Yep after all America has provided to her, including a lifestyle she would never be able to dream of in Yemen, this is her appreciation.

I'd gladly start a fund to help pay for all travel expenses back home to Yemen where she obviously belongs. The only requirement. Forfeiture of your U.S. passport as you board the flight. One way trip only.

This is who we're bringing into this country. Absolutely ungrateful people.

She even went after the institution that awarded her diploma

"Mohammed then rattled off a number of reasons to celebrate her peers - including their aiding of asylum seekers - before adding: 'We did all of this, in spite of the racism, selective activism, and self serving interests of CUNY central - an institution that continues to fail us."

And essentially advocated for Jew-free safe spaces and for the dismissal of Jewish law professors:

Before her graduation speech, Mohammed was known for being an avid protester on campus - and in a video speaking from a picket line, said: '[We] demand that Zionist professors are not welcomed on your campus.

'Demand that Zionist students are not in spaces where Palestinian students are.'

She spoke before a crowd cheered: 'We don't want no Zionists here!'

Yet somehow a public CUNY law school somehow failed her.

This women will struggle mightily in the real world.

She should be allowed to say whatever she wants ... anything less is "Cancel Culture", right?

I think she's straddling somewhere between the lines of hateful speech (entirely lawful) and hate speech (some of which is regulated), likely exacerbated by the fact that as a jewish person, I find her utterly vile and offensive.

She’s deleted her social media, so I think she might be starting to realize that her selfish bubble isn’t the real world.

I'm compelled to agree that it's sad, but would also note that young people, even highly educated young people, will say and do stupid things. Add in the idealistic nature of many college students and it's not all too surprising that ignorance (even ugly ignorance) occurs. I'm in no way excusing her abhorrent speech, just noting that it's not surprising and not the end of the world.

Yes she should be allowed to say it, and we are allowed to set up a gofundme for one way tickets to the sharia law country of her choice.

Might be the biggest case of one committing career suicide at a graduation speech the world has ever seen. It’s one thing to call out Israel over human rights violations, even calling out the issues in the U.S. is inoffensive to me. Very much fair game. If she’s passionate about that stuff, she can be a public defender or whatever.

Clearly she stepped way out of bounds with the anti-Zionism and anti-Jew tirade. Straight up bigotry. So crazy her career prospects from here ought to be nill. Even Islamic oriented legal groups and lobbying groups shouldn’t want to touch that with a 10’ pole.

You have to love the irony:

    “Laws are inherently racist!”

“I demand a law that keeps those filthy Jews away from me!”

Alright gang. I watched the 12 minutes. It was basically a “down with the oppressors” speech and that’s about it.

Oppressors she called out were Israel, which she accused of settler colonialism (she’s clearly not a fan of their actions), and then challenged/attacked the historically white establishment claiming prisoners were being murdered at Rikers and invoking Jordan Neely’s death among other atrocities. You’ll be glad to know she called out Chuck Schumer as aiding the injustice.

It was passionate, wrongly toned if you ask me, and id say unfair, but I didn’t see a part that was racism or vile or offensive. Bad form for sure.

@uftaipan I didn’t see the racism in the speech you claim she said using quotes.

@BLING Maybe I missed it but didn’t see bigotry as the Israeli criticism never called out the Jewish people.

@GatorNorth again I may have missed it as 12 mins is a long time to listen but I didn’t hear the villainous comments in her speech. She may hate Jews, or not, but it wasn’t in the speech.

This is very, very incorrect. You don't have to like what she said, but it's very clearly protected speech.

Yeah, that's disingenuous. Regardless of whether you agree with her comments (I don't), Jews aren't necessarily Zionists. As for whether she'll struggle in the real world, I doubt it. There are plenty of activists out there doing just fine. Odds are as she gets older and gains more life experience, she'll temper some of her beliefs and stances.

The beauty of America is that we can criticize this country. We have a right to free speech (at least for now).

She has a right to say what she said, that doesn't make what she said right.

I never said it was unprotected speech. I said she was straddling somewhere between hateful speech and hate speech, and that it personally offended me.

Disingenuous? Do you know for a fact she wasn’t using Zionist and Jewish as an interchangeable reference to a certain group of people? Seems like it’s as much of an assumption on your part as it was on mine.

And she will struggle-who’s going to hire her now? She’s made herself virtually untouchable to any reputable law firm in America with her vile diatribe.

The quotes I included weren’t from the speech, they were from the article which references prior statements she made while protesting.
