#1 vs the field. Gotta like the field’s chances.

Catcher had the brain fart to top all brain farts. And put the ball in his back pocket taking away anyone else’s chance to save the day.

Not to mention the lack of direction by his coaches.

I wouldn't put it all on the catcher. The whole team had a massive brain fart. Lots of blame to go around.

The winning team had their heads in the game.

Not true - there were a couple of players on the defense who were alert to the situation but they couldn’t do anything without the ball which was in the catchers pocket.

Here is the complete bracket. We got grouped with USCe in a possible super regional. I hope we get to see them again, this time in Gainesville. Too bad we have to play an SEC school to get to the CWS.

Nothing the NCAA likes more than SEC teams eliminating SEC teams.

How can you forget how many outs the other team has? That is nuts.

I think that the cather forgot the dropped third strike rules. With first base occupied and less than two outs the batter is out on a dropped third strike and no tag or force at first is required, but with two outs he must be tagged or forced out at first. I think that is why you hear one player yelling "two outs" over and over again.

That would have been the result if the catcher had tagged the runner- as he seemed to start to try to do- thrown to 1st to force the runner or caught the pitch before it hit the ground. It seems there was a runner on 1B, which may have confusd the C, but with two outs, the umpire signaled the batter safe, but the C and most of the team celebrated. Great clip to show yth ll plyers. Ask them if they prefer to be the team that celebrated at the beginning or the end.

I agree that the catcher made that mistake, but the base runner was like you say was never tagged by the catcher... completely ignored the base runner whole time he was rounding the bases and no one thought to stop him. That lost the game. They must have thought they got the batter out.

I think this is on the catcher not throwing the ball to first base . This is on the catcher’s lack of awareness.
Gotta live with that one for the rest of his life . So will his teammates
