The racist backlash to The Little Mermaid and Lord of The Rings is exhausting and extremely predicta

Oh yes I'm so terrible that I want black girls to actually a princess of their own instead of a hand me down that will always be associated as a white princess. Yep I'm a terrible person. Or is the terrible person here really the person (hint: you) that sees race in everything? The person (hint: you) that calls anyone who disagrees with them a racist. I think I know who the true racist is in this conversation. (hint: you)

 

I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt as to their stated thoughts and motives so let me explain my thinking here.

You have said you want to live in a homogenous country that puts a premium on race or ethnicity. You’ve said you’re worried about Hispanics pushing out “White culture.” You’ve complained about White men being under attack. You have complained about Black folks getting preferential treatment in various contexts. You’ve said you feel like you don’t have a country anymore and that people think you’re sinful because you’re White.

Yet here, you are expressing concern that Black girls are not being treated fairly because the story isn’t new. You’re also looking out for their feelings in the event Disney doesn’t maintain a darker-skinned mermaid character in its parks long term.

Do you see how it’s difficult for me to reconcile your purported concern here about Black girls with your history of White grievance posting?

Is it possible that you’re subconsciously not so much worried about how Black girls might feel about this and are feeling resentful about White Ariel being replaced - perhaps a metaphor for a changing country and your role in it?

 

Or maybe, just maybe, it's possibly to have both feelings. You know, actually have complex feelings. Yes I'll admit I worry about whites being replaced in the U.S. and white culture going away. But I also have no problem with blacks having more representative in Hollywood. What's funny is how someone like you is only worried about blacks being underrepresented and not Hispanics which are a far larger group in the U.S. than blacks.

I have no problem with black girls and black boys having characters they can look up to. Which is why it's so pathetic to give black girls a hand me down sloppy seconds princess that will always be associated as white. Answer this question for me, outside of just being lazy why could Disney have not just provided black girls with a new unique princess that could truly be one of them?

Disney already had the template for success with a black princess in Tiana. If I was so against black people then I would be against Tiana as well. I enjoyed Princess and the Frog and thought it was a good movie for what it was. Why did I enjoy it? Because it was actually an original movie (given all the princess movies are somewhat formulaic but it had some unique aspects) with a new princess with her own character and story. Not a borrowed character and a borrowed story from a white princess. To me that's insulting to black people.

My problem isn't a black princess. My problem is Disney insulted its entire audience, especially black girls, with giving them a recycled princess and a recycled storyline. I don't mind black princesses or black superheroes but they need to be their own unique character with their own unique storyline. What I don't like is white princesses and white superheroes being turned black (or some other minority) just for diversity sake. It hurts the franchise, divides the fan base unnecessarily and is honestly insulting to the minority group.

You can want a homogenous country or at least sections of it being homogenous while still being able to comment on racial issues such as these. And just for your info yes I'm almost 40 and have all but decided that I'll probably leave Florida whenever my parents (who also live here in Florida and are in their late 70s) are gone. I love Florida but I see where it's heading and it's not good. Florida in 40 to 50 years outside of the super rich areas will be no different than a combined Cuba/Puerto Rico/Bahamas/Dominican Republic/Haiti/Venezuela/Colombia country. That's not somewhere I want to live.

I'd like to go back somewhere closer to the home of my ancestors in Poland or Norway (my dad's side, my mom's side ancestry is UK but they are screwed as much as the U.S.) but to be honest that probably won't happen. I would have neither the resources or the ability to make that type of move, never mind the immigration issues, though I haven't completely eliminated the possibility. I partially grew up in West Virginia and I might end up going back there. I miss the slower paced mountain way of life. I partially grew up in Clarksburg so I'll look at the Clarksburg/Fairmont/Morgantown area in the northern part of the state but I also really like Lewisburg in the southern part of the state. I've also thought about looking at the Roanoke/Blacksburg area in Virginia (though for Virginia the DC influence is concerning), the tri-cities area in Tennessee and western North Carolina (though I worry about western North Carolina getting overdeveloped, there are a few spots I really enjoy). But probably West Virginia as that's where I feel most at home. But again I can have that mentality while still being able to speak on issues of race from a neutral non-racial perspective.

 

Come on guys. How about not accusing anyone of being a racist and claiming that others call you racist.

I don't really care about elections. The whole process is largely rigged anyway. Main stream Republicans and Democrats, two different sides of the same coin. Trump just helped delay what was inevitable for a few years.

At this point as long as I can get out of the U.S. entirely or isolate myself in an insulated part of the U.S. like West Virginia, southwestern Virginia, eastern Tennessee or western North Carolina the rest of the U.S. can go up in flames for all I care.

The U.S. isn't even a country at this point, just a glorified economic zone, so it's really not worth saving.

 

I had no idea of his posting past. So the poster is being sarcastic trying to prove some unhinged point about white grievance? This is one for the books. Totally unhinged view. Let's alienate MORE voters. The 2024 strategy is how do we alienate as many voters as possible before the elections.

 

Then do everyone a favor and just go away. Your views are extreme and not welcome. There is no place for you. Society is better off, as a whole, without people like you. So, when you packing?

 

Sorry not going away yet. Can't tell yet if you're a Republican or Democrat but either way it's two sides of the same coin. Ironically if you were to guess who I voted for in 2020 you would be wrong. I actually voted for Biden and Democrats and will vote for Biden and Democrats again in 2024.

Not because I support them, but because it's time for the country to burn. The U.S. can not be saved in it's current form and I'm not going to act like elections will somehow save us. The only way ironically to potentially save the U.S. is to burn it to the ground and start over. Sometimes the quickest way to heaven is straight through hell. Democrats will eventually get everything they want and will destroy this country, the only variable is time. Even Trump or DeSantis will just delay in inevitable. It's one of the reasons I plan to get out of cities as soon as my parents are gone. At least in the mountains somewhere you can be somewhat insulated from the chaos when things start to go down. I guess you could say I'm more a chose theory voter than I am Republican or Democrat.

 

Tell the government to give me $10 million dollars then. Enough money to buy 50 acres in the mountains, build a nice little cabin/house and have some basic amenities (truck for transportation when needed, some solar panels and a generator for electricity and a well pump system for water). Do that and except for one or two road trips a year and a trip into town every few weeks for supplies you would never hear from me again. I'd even give up my right to vote. Deal? Until then not going away and will make my opinions known.
