Louisville C Sarah Gordon is entering the transfer portal, she announced. The ACC Freshman of the Year in 2023, Gordon's stat line in her rookie year included a .379 batting average, 11 home runs, 49 RBIs, and 12 doubles.
There are several good catchers now in the portal and you can bet Bama will be going after one to replace Ally Shipman. I hope Tim Walton is burning up the phone lines and social media contacts to fill the voids on our team, especially pitching.
That really wouldn’t make sense to have that many leave. As you mention looking at the 10 remaining players on the roster I only see one name that would make sense for a possible transfer for more playing time. The other nine are either starters, injured prior starters or rotational players. Unless any of them see the handwriting on the wall with the new recruits limiting their playing time it just doesn’t make much sense. Some will be seniors or possibly grad seniors. Can’t see leaving when next year has the possibility of being a special year for the Gators.
1990 was 100% on concerning NIL. If we want to have more, we need more donors and any amount would help as Fla Victorious has opened up for more than the 10k min that was in place. I know TW is actively burning up the portal and is in contact with X number of players.
Texas A&M OF Bre Warren has entered the transfer portal, she announced. In two seasons (2021/2023 w/ a redshirt in 2022), Warren owns a .268 career batting average, 33 runs scored, 17 doubles, and 31 RBIs.
To be clear, Florida Victorious has an NIL setup specifically for softball. That means if you donate any amount - you can designate it to go to the softball NIL only. Correct me if I’m wrong @notexgator but isn’t the other benefit that any contribution goes towards your lifetime giving levels. I may be in the minority but I give enough to the football program with my boosters fees for my seats so they don’t need anymore of my money. Softball and Women’s Basketball need some NIL money to play with and I like knowing that what I donate does really help those programs. Like someone from the Gator’s Boosters told me - every dollar you donate to the softball program is one dollar less that we have to take away from the football donations. So truly now, every $ 100.00 makes a difference.
1990 is spot on. Football has plenty. As you said a couple of weeks ago, I give my extra money to Title 9!
Skylar Wallace is heavily featured -- sweet! Although the website says 90% goes to the student athletes, they don't really explain what that means or how this works. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think you can just hand out cash with NIL. Also, if you don't designate a sport (the website says its optional), then were does that money go?
If they bring in someone more talented and is an actual C, who cares? He has already shown he will play a SS who can't hit at C over them.
If you do not designate it the money goes where the board sees the most need. The 10% pays the staff to run it and administer it along with outside council and a CPA to watch the money. 10% is a very fair amount to do so.
I can understand why Cali Decker left. She was/is a true catcher who led San Diego State in BA this year. Her coach said she's the emotional leader of their team in her first year there. And I saw her make a couple of nice plays defensively. Always gives a target to her pitcher and talks to her after every pitch. To me she's shown more as an all around catcher this year than either Wilkie or Roe, not to mention Longley.
Central Arkansas' best pitcher is in the portal. Kayla Beaver. 25-7 record with 194 strike outs in 201 innings and only 41 walks. 1.15 ERA and 0.90 WHIP. I think has one year left.
Beaver had a 2.00 ERA solely against Power Five schools. Two hit shutout of Utah. One hit shutout of Kansas. 5 hit shutout of Arkansas. She got popped by Okie State throwing a complete game but giving up 7 earned runs. Take away the Okie State game and her ERA against Power Five was 0.75.
Don't know how true it is, but on another college SB site the following are listed as being in the portal. Florida: Emily Wilkie Olivia Gigante Baylee Goddard
Hope your information is not correct. If true we are down to eight returning players. Not a good look.
I saw the same list. Olivia is the only one that makes sense. Also, if the poster was correct, why didn’t he mention Lexie and Wellen?
I copied and pasted this from robocoach.discussion.community. It was posted late last night: "I paid for a subscription on one of the college softball websites Auburn: Shelby Lowe Annabelle widra Florida: Emily Wilkie Olivia gigantie Baylee Goddard Clemson: Brooke Mccubbin Reagan Spencer Maddie Moore Virginia tech Emma Lemley Emma Ritter Cameron Fagan Stanford: Gaby peters FSU: Kalei Harding Ali DuBois Tenneee: Kiki Milloy This is all so far. I expect more after the WCWS ends." I can find no confirmation of any of these players anywhere. Can't imagine Kiki Milloy leaving Tennessee, but who knows?
Can't worry about the "look", this is the portal era. Just worry about the end result and what the roster looks like when they next suit up
