Apparently a new documentary called "I love you, You Hate me" is coming out soon, that details the hate for Barney and his message of love and inclusion. Not sure how much that played into it overall, but the trailer mentions violent death threats.

In the trailer, Bob West, a Barney performer, recalls his experience receiving death threats while on the show: “They were violent and explicit, death and dismemberment of my family,” he said, per CNN. “They were gonna come and find me, and they were going to kill me.”

The show was created by Sheryl Leach, Kathy Parker and Dennis DeShazer in 1992, the report added.

“Barney stands for inclusion, acceptance. You should love everyone, we all have Sheryl Leach to thank for that,” someone in the trailer says. “Why does the world love to hate?”

That song was struck in my Head when my daughter was young.

Meanwhile, I predict another round of racist controversy

Yes, it's another sad example of people finding ridiculous things to get upset over.

Little Mermaid was the #1 movie, scoring over 4 times the cash as the next closest ... see, pretend mermaids really can be black ... I bet Meatball didn't take his kids, though ...

    1. “The Little Mermaid,” $95.5 million.
    2. “Fast X,” $23 million.
    3. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” $20 million.
    4. “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” $6.3 million.
    5. “The Machine,” $4.9 million.

To be fair, it does seem to have impacted the box office expectations.
“Despite the poor buzz and casting controversies surrounding ‘The Little Mermaid’, industry experts predict a solid debut with expected to earn approx $90-100 million in its first three days and $120-125 million over the four-day holiday weekend across 4,000+ theaters in the USA. While the anticipation may not be as high as expected, these numbers still suggest a respectable start. However, when compared to other live-action theatrical releases, the projected opening weekend for ‘The Little Mermaid’ falls short, excluding ‘Aladdin’. With its debut set across numerous theaters in the USA, it is hoped that the film will gain traction and exceed initial predictions as word-of-mouth spreads.”

It's expected to be the 5th biggest Memorial Day weekend opener ever, though, so that's not bad.

It's got a 95% on rotten tomatoes, but I have seen a lot bad reviews by critics over the way the adaption to live-action was done, although even those reviews praise the actress.

Melissa McCarthy as Ursula is drawing raves. Haven't seen it, but any remake of a classic is bait for valid criticism.

My daughter watched that movie so often when she was young, it would play in head involuntarily. I absorbed every minute just being in the house.

I don't like the new version of Peter Pan that just came out on Disney Plus. I'm not a purist, and I appreciate artistic license, but the story was just boring, imo. It had some good bits, mostly big musical numbers, but it leaned too heavily on female empowerment. I appreciate the effort, but the execution was heavy-handed.

The Lost Boys were remade as The Lost Children, including girls, differing nationalities, and a Down's Syndrome child. Which is fine, succeeding versions aren't meant to mimic the original.

According the National Review's review, the movie is anti-Western, anti-art, brings a new segregation, its selling racism ...

Everyone knows the Lost Boys are supposed to be vampires, at least since the late eighties.

Seriously, I haven't seen this new version. Got pretty mediocre reviews. I may at some point but there's too much other good content on right now. And nothing is good as the Lost Boys from the late 80s
