There aren't 70 million Americans involved in this boycott. Those of you who are involved or supporting it aren't trying to hide why. You just yourself admitted that it's because Target is "trying to sell . . . transgenderism." A person only gets upset over something like that if they oppose "transgenderism." Doesn't take an enigma machine when the bigots are telling you what they're doing.
You really didn’t even pay attention to what I said. I didn’t say Target was on the right side of the issue. I am mostly indifferent as to what right side is, as I really don’t care. I said Target wanted to be on the right side of the issue because that is where they perceive their target demographic, younger consumers to be. As to profit, rightly or wrongly they are pursuing this strategy as a means to maximize long term profit, by pursuing a younger demographic that cares about this stuff. Chasing younger consumers is common for many retailers, as they are still formative in their preferences, where are older consumers tend to have their preferences locked in. I’m not taking a position that this is a good or bad strategy. But it isn’t an unusual strategy. It is the same reason Bud Liight did it. It was likely not a good strategy for bud light due to the large number of middle aged white male consumers. The current shopping demographic for Target is somewhat different. If you are going to respond and discuss such issues the least you could do is read the post you are responding to.
You don’t get to bastardize the English language. Just because most people oppose corporate America from pushing a woke agenda does not make them bigots. By your logic you are a bigot for opposing the people who are boycotting Target. BTW—it’s pro-abortion, not pro choice. You don’t get to bastardize that word either.
Most people don't care whether corporate American pushes a "woke agenda." They just want to live their lives. Those who get worked up are bigoted. And yeah, it's totally cool with me if you argue that I'm bigoted against bigots. You got me.
You couldn’t run a lemonade stand with your business sense. So many errors. Younger consumers are not a monolithic group of left wing protestors. 50/50 still. Further, your suggestion that a large general retailer that sells, clothing, food, electronics, household goods and adult diapers is strategizing to pursue a “younger demographic” is beyond the pale. That may work for a small clothing line/retailer, but that would be disastrous for a major retailer. It could cost them billions…oh wait. Third, teen girl bathing suits with a nut wrap is what we call a niche market. Per store average sales is likely under $5. They’re just aren’t that many 12 year old boys that want to go to the YMCA pool wearing a rainbow 1-piece with a hidden nut wrap. Maybe .00000001%, you think? call me a bigot all you want, but business bottom lines HATE politics….and we are talking about marketing here, not ideology.
Ok, if the shoe fits… you are also a racist because all the bigots belong to all the different races. You’re a homophobe as well because many gay people are writing op-Ed’s coming out against this corporate wokeness. You are also alethophobic, because you don’t know what the term means, but it will still frighten you when you look it up. LOL. I could do this all day with your warped logic.
For a lawyer your reading comprehension is really bad. I am stating what they are doing, right or wrong and you come back at me with insults of my supposed lack of business acumen. You don’t seem interested in a good faith discussion. Just trolling.
guys, please cut out the insults and personal accusations. or posts are going to start getting whacked. thanks
I try to give a direct answer and this guy comes back with insults. He does it everywhere. It’s his style. I will respond in kind.
I’m not trolling you, I was using humor and a play on words for my first response. In my 2nd response I was educating you on how business decisions are actually made in a real world. Your post shows an actual lack of business acumen, not a supposed lack thereof. Do you know why home builders don’t advertise in Teen Vogue? Because teens don’t buy a lot of houses! This is the same reason you don’t see a lot of Depends ads on YouTube. This is also why Walmart did’t have MAGA hats in the front display of their stores.
Another uneducated bigot opening his trap… Kevin O'Leary: Target's Pride merch decision was a 'huge mistake' after losing billions in market value
Donk? Dude you are a lawyer. It shows. It is common knowledge that companies put a great deal of effort to attract the 18-35 demographic, because their retail preferences are still malleable. Once over 40, people’s preferences are locked in. Sometimes they go overboard, like with Bud Light, although these lgbtq adds weren’t targeted to beer belly Homer Simpson types. But they failed to anticipate (which they should know better) that conservative media internet trolls would spread them over Fox News, etc and fuel the anti woke rage machine.
Bud Light went overboard? All Bud Light did was make a custom can with Mulvaney's face on it and send it to her. The raging bigots who lost their shit over that are the ones who went overboard.
I highly suspect UFLawyer is swamp donkey, formerly Law Gator from gatorshitter. The posting style and his propensity to throw out dislikes the way a child molester dispenses candy to children closely fits. Swamp Donkey may be the only poster on gator shitter to have more high drama bans and self bans than me. If it is you, welcome. Donk is a PITA and out there at times but at the same time would call out the crazy Trump conspiracists.
That wasn't the question. The question was whether or not one's race might make a difference. Are you willing to consider that one's lived experience, including that of their ancestors, might inform their instruction? If not, your history is history take might be akin to suggesting that music is music. Who would you rather take a jazz history course from: a) Classical cellist or b) Jazz saxophonist? This is likely the crux of your problem with racial issues - they can be discomforting. It's important, though, to try and step outside one's self and consider the perspective of others whose lives are different from your own. And I don't think the original question was about who had better knowledge, but about whose experience offered unique insight.
When I say overboard, sometimes marketing types get so obsessed with getting the 18-35 group, they forget about what their product is and who their core customers are. If your core demographic is 45-55 fat white guys who watch the NFL, chances are ads with idiotic trans attention whores aren’t going to play well.
