Very poor journalism- replete with words like “increase” and “many” but not one substantive fact.

It’s the 2023 version of “shooting the messenger”
Bad weather comes, people get angry, they look for info - more bad weather to come… gotta blame somebody right?

Who of us in Florida has not seen videos of the meteorologist telling us how bad the winds are how horrible the weather is, and then in the background see people in shorts and sandals, casually walking behind the weather man without a care in the world? Media overhypes - okay, and people are idiots. Got it. Now, technology allows all of us to reveal when we have no clothes…and it’s often.

Story was about meteorologist reporting the news and being harassed for it online by nuts who think planes’ vapor trails are chemicals emitted to control the weather. They included links to the Spanish authority tweets. Not sure what facts you’d like to see.

Extreme weather events occur regularly; the difference between then and now is that they are occurring more frequently or are more intense whether or not you choose to believe meteorologists and climate scientists.

Agree with City. Your post makes no sense.
The story is about increased accusations, threats and harassment directed at meteorologists. It quotes meteorologists and their organizations in multiple countries about the increase.
The fact that you've seen some videos of weathermen or reporters exaggerating conditions a few times is supposed to mean what?

Tv news is always if it bleeds it leads. It tends to usually exaggerate weather possibilities. I don’t consider tv weather reports to be journalism. This article was.

I believe he’s trying to justify the accusations and threats by implying meteorologists aren’t 100%accurate.

I think he's implying that he's a climate denier. But I could be wrong. I just like to look for coded language. (Compare people like DeSantis on the "culture wars" or being "anti-woke." Coded language in neon lights.)

Almost every day here in tx the iPhone weather app says 30% rain, but it never rains. Something is going on here. People need to be held accountable.

What increase? Okay, it quotes a bunch of folks. Got it. Quoting someone does not make what they say factual. It just means they probably said it - most times.

So, where is the documentation about the “increased accusations”?
Did they go from one a year to three a year? 300% increase!!! OMG!
Again, the article is full of leveraged words without numbers; and, i was hoping for some science

It’s a “feel bad” narrative about how meteorologists are likely putting up with more crap from viewers/followers than they were before. I’m inclined to believe that this is true. You know what? Football players put up with more crap from viewers/followers than they did before. So do CEOs. Teachers and School Boards In fact, I have found that since I post on THFSG I am receiving an “alarming increase” of negative reactions than I did before posting.
Doesn’t make those who react necessarily wrong.
Doesn’t make my posts necessarily apt.
People have “shot the messenger” so much over history it’s a phrase we all know. Thanks, CNN for letting us know human nature is still human nature. Great insight

My local meteorologist predicted 50% chance of rain for the last 10 days but it only rained 5 of those days. I called him up and let him have a piece of my mind. Not sure why he laughed at me.

I watch TV meteorologists mainly because a lot of them are good-looking women. If they're lying to me I really don't care. Unless, of course, they point out a hurricane that's heading straight for northeast Florida. Then I wish they were lying.

Come on. That kind of stuff isn't tabulated. "In April 2022, we had 12 incidents of threats, harassment or accusations. This year, we had 57 ..."
Seriously, you expect people to keep stats?

So, if they don’t keep stats how do they know they are increasing?

I expect journalists to share facts not sensationalize with vague allusions to “more” and “many” “may have” “could be” and “increasing” without any proof. Call me demanding.

No he’s saying when a weatherman is caught on film hyping a weather event they loose credibility.

I’ve seen a few of the weather channel crew get punked by passersby when the reporter is acting like the wind is so strong they can barely stand and some kids go strolling by in the back ground.
