" Bailed out" means exactly that. He walked the leadoff hitter and the bullpen did their job. It doesn't imply an awful inning. Maybe also give some credit to the bullpen?

the difference in this game was defense. Ours let us down early, while Bradfield made some terrific plays out in centerfield.

Not a good way to end the SEC season but when you start out flat, make 3 errors and allow several unearned runs- a loss is often the outcome.
It hurts some because this Vandy team is not as good as in years past. Five wins in a row was entirely possible. When you take the field losing is always possible but looking as sloppy as we looked in the first innings, well the optics not good. But we did not roll over which is good.
We shall see on Monday whether we get the #2 or 3 seed. Sully did not go to his top guys in the Pen so that's good and very good that BT and Luke swapped positions in later innings. I'm hoping that JAC's shaky outing does not carry over.

Funny, you argued all offseason that Purnell ERA lied

I don't think it will-Singer couldn't get anyone out when he came into the SEC tournament game back in 2017-he ended up doing ok after that...we will see-I think the defense let Cags down that first inning-they scored some runs without a hit-it was bizarre

As bad as it started out, still had some late opportunities to win this.
    GO GATORS!!!!

  11. At least in the SEC guys are used to hitting straight 95+ over the plate, years ago that would've been enough. If Cags gets behind or his accuracy shifts to the meat of the plate it's trouble. With that being said we're in the game much longer if a few plays are made, I do think Cags needs to work on his mentality and not let things spiral. It's admittedly very hard to do in the college game with the opposing talent, intensity, etc but like BT and a million others have said baseball is a game of failure. For the hitter and the pitcher each pitch is a new opportunity/clean slate and anything that happened before (wanna say Brit expression) wipe your mouth and move on.

@74nole was kidding about me probably wanting Nesbitt to pitch. I’m with ya on Tejeda. Kid has a very bright future.

    Agree to some extent but….
Kid with lowest era on team has thrown 1 inning in 2-3 weeks? Let’s give him a chance to pitch a few innings
