Florida Statute 910.006 offers Florida law enforcement special maritime jurisdiction when an offense is committed and the victim is resident of Florida; the suspect on board the ship is a resident or citizen of Florida; more than half the revenue passengers aboard the ship originally embarked and plan to finally disembark in a Florida port; or the crime could have caused a "substantial effect" within Florida.

 

Why are you arguing vaccine requirements on cruises? Passengers were required to shoot proof of vaccination a full year after the Florida law was passed saying that they can't

 

I’m not concerned with how “good” a politician supposedly is in his/her personal life. That means nothing if they are going to make sweeping changes in my life that I will have no control over.

 

Well, looks like you have it figured out. So, assume a cruise from Florida to Martinique. Assume further that Martinique requires all passengers be vaccinated or the ship can't dock.

Identify and discuss all issues.

You left out every salient and critical point that relates to the exercise of state criminal law enforcement authority (and the point we are discussing-- the prohibition against requiring vaccination) in the statute you cited. Did you read the statute?

Something long forgotten. Every island in the Caribbean required vaccination to disembark. Why go on a cruise if you are unable to go anywhere but the ship?

 

I told you before, I'm done trying to educate someone who simply refuses to be educated. You don't grasp things and then you get rude when you can't. So you go figure out why antivaxxer is not a suspect class. You go figure out why school boards can require kids to get vaccinated. And, while you're insultinfg people...."talking out of my ass"? That would generally produce a better result than your efforts.

I didn't say "antivaxxer is a suspect class." I said Florida can make it one. It can prohibit discrimination against them if it wanted to.

Plenty go on cruises and don’t leave the boat.
They like the food, shows, pools, gambling etc.

 

Back to DeSantis, he went from being seemingly a pretty centrist Governor, to a full throated social conservative culture warrior.

Acts authoritarian in nature, is overly combative, vengeful, thin skinned, lacks humor and self deprecation, and doesn’t seem to have any desire to govern for all of Florida’s citizens, instead looking to “own” the side that disagrees with him.

I am not sure what he personally believes, but he doesn’t seem like a man with any core integrity.
