I have been called a lot of things here, but intellectually dishonest isn’t usually on that list.
I was relaying what I was told (again this person is tied in to Tallahassee in a way few are), and there are a lot of people who are book smart and don’t have an ounce of common sense, everyone one of us has met them. So if you want to place qualifiers on it like “when it comes to his current job” feel free I guess, but doesn’t change much.

 

Ron DeSantis, like Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz is a smart guy who knows how to be politically successful by appealing to the (using Trump's term) poorly educated.

 

He just can't help himself at this point.

He's already unelectable. Why make things worse? His one chance was reaching out to people outside of the trump sphere. He will lose without appealing to the middle. Who thinks he appeals to the middle?

 

His advantage right now is youth. My take is he is high on the anti-woke attention and can’t dial it back.
The primaries will be entertaining to see who can make the dumbest statements.
Meanwhile, where’s waldo

 

Casey may be more sociable than that thing she chose to have a Disney wedding with, but she is not going to be able to make his message any more palatable.

Also righties: “How dare you guys call my guy dumb. Look at those degrees!”

I fully agree with the “college degree doesn’t confer intelligence” pov. It’s just amusing seeing the hypocrisy. All we can judge a politician on is what they say and how they behave, and unfortunately post-Trump righties celebrate the bottom of the barrel. Some cases are very odd. Take Dr. Ben Carson. I’m sure that guy has forgotten more about medicine than I could ever know. Yet, hearing the guy speak either he checked his brain at the door when he became a politician or his skills as a communicator were never in line with his skills in medicine. Of course he is far from an example of “scraping the bottom of the barrel”, just more of an odd one. The bottom of the barrel would be Trump, MTG, Boebert. Gosar, Gaetz, Jordan, etc etc etc.

 

Carson had really good eye-hand coordination. Trump and George Bush both graduated from Ivy League schools. They are not particularly intelligent people.

 

^^ wife and I had dinner recently with a couple that downgraded the importance of higher education, esp the wife. Of course both have degrees as do their 2 daughters.
Just bizarre to listen to. I would understand if both parents were self made millionaires never having gone to college but that ain't the case by a long shot.

He’s not dumb as rocks. He’s many other things though.

 

I personally would not characterize DeSantis as dumb. He’s DOA but did he ever have a real path? The Also Trump is however a path to retain power in Florida, which is his ceiling.

I doubt anyone anywhere believes the anti-woke strategy is a winner with young people. Old people can’t say “woke” enough though.

He certainly had enough sense to ram through the provision to keep on being King of Florida after the POTUS fundraising dries up. And this is just raising that profile which already won easily last time. He is basically hammer-gripping Florida. I can come up with several negative descriptors for that but dumb isn’t one.
