Peterson is simply giving you the historical chain of events, from a human psychoanalytic standpoint. He’s not condoning violence at all. He is basically telling you “this is what history says happens next due to the natural way humans tend to process thoughts and react.”

If we look past slavery and to the Jim Crow laws, would you concede that they were about race?

I think the Democrats who enacted those ridiculous laws were absolutely racist. But I think more importantly it was about maintaining control/power. What is your point?

You downplayed “perceived wrongs from 200 years ago” and questioned the extent to which America’s history of slavery was about race.

I brought up Jim Crow laws because they were more recent. You at least agree that the people who passed those laws were racist. The way you phrased your response was interesting in that you called the Democrats racist while just calling the laws ridiculous.

I think that era of history is relevant in evaluating the history of racism in America and what seem to be your efforts to minimize it.

Great thread by Charlotte Clymer. This is a hate movement that cannot be appeased

You are hyper focused on this point in time.
Some people hold grudges while others grow and move on.
Guess which one you are…I have noticed through my short time on earth that libbies are often people who feel slighted, wronged and inferior.
Liberals identify strongly with those who were wronged in the old days and can’t resist taking out their own vulnerabilities on others.
Racism is long dead. Move on people.

Acknowledging history isn't the same as holding a grudge, nor is racism long dead considering there's still a good percentage of people alive in this country who lived through segregation. The country is very much headed in the right direction if you look at it through a long enough timeline but we're still a long way from racism being dead.

You may need to take a step back and look critically at the right as well. Fox News built a very successful network based on appealing to people on the right who feel slighted, wrong, and inferior. Trump won the presidency by appealing to the same.

Telling people to "move on" and that we shouldn't even acknowledge the past reminds of a bully who years later runs into someone they used to torment and says "you're still mad about that? Get over it." You personally didn't enslave anyone. You don't have anything to apologize for and no one is anyone is asking you to. Is it so hard just to admit that we have some dark times in our past that we don't want to repeat?

Some good points and writing in there.

“You need to understand something about these people: their objective is not really to gain any ground but to find an outlet for their rage at the world changing around them. They are starving for outrage all the time. They would rather be perpetually angry than be mollified.”

“They are furious that anyone would ask them to learn about others because it de-centers their experience as the unassailable, unaccountable default.”

Morgan Freeman also said stop talking about racism.
No one is saying we shouldn’t teach and acknowledge our past. We shouldn’t make more of it, crt, than it was.

CRT boogeyman again. It’s like a broken record that has zero interest in being factual.

    Like I said, 1st world.

GOP is leaning hard into 3rd world stuff. Using the govt to control culture. Censorship. Authoritarian.

If my choice is Norway or Syria.....

You seem to be saying you like your kids running, screaming knocking over items in Publix. Wear what you like, be whatever you want to be and don’t take crap from anybody. No consequences, you actually praise them for it.
I am saying I prefer children with discipline and manners. I also like uniforms for school children.

    No surprise here.
The liberal philosophy manifests in the ways I previously mentioned.
Just because you missed it doesn’t mean it isn’t true.
