Vandy should be the home team as they were "away" their last 2 games. They only used 2 pitchers Friday. 5 times is the charm... I mean... at this point in time it's like trying to kill a cockroach in the dark... I think we got them this time?
I would imagine everyone in the Gator bullpen is available except for Neely. Need to get 6 innings out of Jac to set us up for Sundays final….assuming we win
That’s pretty much exactly what RJ Schreck and their pitcher said last night with the SEC Network crew. Something like “it’s hard to beat a team 5 times in a row, so we’re gonna be ok”, and the broadcasters agreed.
We need BT to hit a HR in his first at bat...get in their heads.. Have to say..sick of playing them..bad when I now know their players names..
Florida-Vanderbilt SEC Tournament Primer (Take Two) - Florida Gators PITCHING MATCHUP: This one features a pair of young left-handers on the mound. Gators sophomore Jac Caglianone (6-2, 3.96 ERA) is known more for his bat, but he delivered a pair of clutch outings in his final two starts of the regular season. Caglianone beat Vanderbilt and Kentucky by pitching a combined 13 2/3 innings, helping Florida earn a share of the SEC regular-season title. Caglianone limited opponents to five hits and one run in the two outings, with four walks and 17 strikeouts. Caglianone's win over the Commodores on May 14 (6 2/3 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 9 SO) stands as his best outing of the season. Freshman JD Thompson gets the nod for the Commodores. Thompson will make his first career start after 12 relief appearances. He is 2-1 with a 4.67 ERA over 17 1/3 innings. He has allowed 14 hits, walked 11 and struck out 17. Thompson was on the mound in Florida's 10-0 win on May 12 when Caglianone drove home a pair of runs with a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh for a run-rule victory. Thompson is from Rusk, Texas, where he was 6-0 with 93 strikeouts in 50 1/3 innings as a senior. Thompson has held opponents to a .215 average in his first college season.
Need to make him throw strikes…..almost 6 walks per 9 innings. His batting average against is pretty good so we need to not help him out swinging at bad pitches
Goes without saying Cags has been his most consistent in his last two starts—hope he maintains that command.
