Aren't Christians just the best? Her body was exhumed because they were relocating her burial place, when someone was like ... "whoa, shouldn't she be more rotten than this?". Others agreed. Now they think she is what they call "incorruptible" and could be looking at Sainthood. But, science says it's not unusual for bodies to remain well preserved for years after death. If you want, you can drive to Missouri and take a gander yourself. So much dignity in that. You never hear about this kind of lunacy at the Chruch of Satan, just saying...

Travelers congregate in rural Missouri community to see nun's body | CNN

Quote from a dude trying to rain on the parade ...

Passalacqua also noted “in general, when we bury a body at our human decomposition facility, we expect it will take ~5 years for the body to become skeletonized. That is without a coffin or any other container or wrapping surrounding the remains. So for this body, which was buried in a coffin, I personally don’t find it too surprising that the remains are relatively well preserved after only four years.”

So you can become a saint by not rotting too much after you die?

I would really like to be there for that ceremony… “and now Sister Lancaster, by virtue of not smelling too bad, and being mostly intact when we dug her up, shall be anointed…”

Sort of off-topic, I recall a priest from Operation Rescue who used to carry the body of a 25-week old fetus to anti-abortions demonstrations. Kind of bizarre on several levels. First, only around one percent of abortions are performed after the 20th week of gestation and even more bizarre given that it's core value that human remains should treated with respect and dignity (goes to the subject of this thread) if the guy actually believed that the fetus was a human being why was he using it as a prop rather than treating it with the respect that it deserved.

The body of Vladimir Lenin, who died in 1924, is still on display in Lenin's Mausoleum.

Dont know about this specific episode, but so it makes more sense

Incorruptibility is a Catholic and Eastern Orthodox belief that divine intervention allows some human bodies (specifically saints and beati) to completely or partially avoid the normal process of decomposition after death as a sign of their holiness.
