I have been saying this for a while…

The msm wants Trump. It is the one candidate that makes it easy to sell the win with the cheating that will take place in the big cities in swing states.

I personally don’t think the pubs have a chance in the general for 2024 as it sits now. Regardless of who is on the ticket. Mail in votes already have this thing won for the dems.

I think this is, with respect, a mischaracterization of the GOP base.

What the GOP base wants, and I can speak to this because I am in the base, is they want someone who will fight for them.

    I'll give you some examples.

George W Bush went for years and years refusing to fight against unhinged attacks from the media and Democrats. He allowed them to call him Hitler for years without responding. John McCain routinely mocked and took shots at the base in an effort to curry favor with Democrats and the media. The same thing with Romney who consistently threw the base under the bus when it meant he could have nice things said about him. Marco Rubio, John Boehner, Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, John Roberts, Anthony Kennedy, Bob Dole, George HW Bush and on and on were all routinely reviled by the media and called fascists and racists and all sorts of heinous things and did nothing to respond to these slurs and instead tried to engage in policies that were center left to appease these dishonest actors.

Trump for all his faults (and there are many many faults), finally told these people to go to hell.

    That is his primary appeal.

The huge downside of that is that it is his only move and it allows the left to paint all Republicans as raving lunatics.

Now DeSantis will tell them politely to go to hell and then also be an effective executive.

That is his appeal, and I believe that's what the GOP base really wants.

Destroying the cultural fabric of this country by stoking division.

Inserting racism where there otherwise isn't racism.

Chilling free speech and dissenting opinions because people believe that anything they say will be called racist.

“Fight” for you. Aka authoritarian rule over people you don’t like from making personal decisions that only affect them other than you have to look and interact with them. No thank you. I’ll fight to the end against your right to fight personal decisions. That how fascism begins.

You are focused on the wrong party.

WHat do NPAs(me) and Independents think of Desantis? Abortion alone is a campaign killer. Combine his culture wars, history whitewashing, attacks on education and the LGTBQ community. Sorry. But he hasn;t once tried reach across the aisle to unite anyone. If anything he has demonized one side...good luck getting moderates to support your culture wars. They do not and the polls show it.

ABORTION KILLED DESANTIS. It's too late. That toothpaste ain't going back in the tube.

You haven’t through effective diversity training. Some diversity training may do that, but more effective diversity training aims to reinforce that you have diverse customers, diverse employees, etc and being cognizant of differences in what is important to them is good business (or education or whatever). Ultimately diversity leads to diverse ideas and diverse ways of thinking, which on balance increases creativity and problem solving.

Using the government to retaliate against a corporation is authoritarian. Also, the ill-advised, expensive action of a weak and thin-skinned idiot.

Congratulations, Pubs, you've managed to make "Worst Presidential Candidate Ever," a photo-finish race to the bottom. Trump wins by a nose.

Well you seem to think DeSantis/pubs are conservatives despite decades of evidence to the contrary. If that ain't mindlessness, it'll do until the mindlessness gets here. Maybe you should spend less time whipping your puppy & more time on critical thinking.

Terrified of Ron Vinn? I'm not terrified. I'm white, male, keep my hair short and can put my pretend Christian face on when necessary for the Desantis thought police.

Trump - Another story. How any person with an IQ over 12 does not know who he is and what he will do should he get elected again has no excuse.

Guy tried to overthrow the Gov't when he did not get the desired election result. Still trying actually.

Guy wants to give Putin all of Western Europe.

Guy wants to be a modern day Nero and Caligula.

    I am terrified of trump.

With respect, I do not. If it were a mischaracterization of the GOP then Desantis would be whipping Trump’s ass. Like you said, Desantis would do it politely. The GOP base wants nasty. You’re the outlier.

Diversity these days means non-white ethnicity, non-male gender, non-heterosexual and viewpoints that are exactly the same: this secular, self-absorbed, narcissistic, victimization is virtue ethos.

Childish shots against ineffective leaders that should have been roundly mocked will always be effective.

As if he hadn't disqualified himself already, his pledge to pardon 1/6-ers and Trump for crimes makes him unfit to be president.

However, so does his book banning, his self own over Disney, his attempt to unalive all trans people in this state, his book/campaigning tour instead of doing his job, signing a 6-week abortion ban and his proven inability to relate to any other human normally on this planet outside of his string pulling spouse. Plus, he's 5'7" and wears lift heels everywhere.

FYI, it's going to be really hard to win the purple states in the general election due to a lot of the things in the prior paragraph. So yeah, no one is afraid of a race against Florida's Mussolini.
