Let’s stop pretending you want equality then. Let’s try celebrating people, all people for who they are. Singling out sexuality, race and celebrating diversity is just divisive. Or we can have a Jewish history month, Irish American history month, Cuban-American history month, etc… Libbies are ridiculous and cannot hide their hate for white Christians.
^^^Celebrating diversity is just divisive.... Then the full Storm Front dismount. This is the whole cake, icing slathered on!
The reason LGBT "pride" is a thing is because they have been historically marginalized. Heterosexuals were not. Straight people were not categorically targeted with discrimination, hatred and scorn. They weren't arrested for having sex or denied the right to marry their partners. I'm happy we've made great progress, but it's notable that there are significant numbers of Americans who want to turn back the clock on that progress. There are, in fact, various days/weeks/months for various groups. We have Women's History Month, for example. Presumably, you think that's divisive unless we have a special Men's History Month, too? Do you not see the historical context there?
Historically, everyone has been mistreated. At what point do we move past the grievances and victim hood?
I would love to know the answer to that question as well. Frankly, I didn’t know history had colors. I thought history was just history.
Apparently you were out back smoking weed when your 7th grade teacher was going over reading comprehension.
I just see a bunch of silly Hallmark Holidays. Does anyone actually celebrate these “holidays” other than Hallmark and a few t-shirt companies?
We can debate that with respect to various groups and different times and places. But when and where were heterosexuals officially and categorically vilified and mistreated? I'm sure there are even LGBT folks who don't celebrate Pride Month and don't care about it. That's fine. Many others want to make sure that LGBT folks feel included and supported. The people who are outraged about a business recognizing it certainly have the right to feel that way and to shop somewhere else. But it seems disingenuous and completely out of context for someone to suggest Target is being mean or unfair to heterosexuals for not having a special month dedicated to us. I'd submit that one side here is definitely exhibiting more divisiveness, anger, and grievance than the other side. We seem to disagree about which is which.
Not sure. I try to avoid buying Hallmark cards if at all possible. I did get my mom one for Mother's Day because she seems to like them.
So no American history either, history is just history, no need to break it down into constituent parts based on identities.
Target is switching to Plan B - George Floyd. Because you have to have some sort of Woke Plan. Thing is though, wasn’t George Floyd only one of over a million who died of Covid ?
Yes, History is history. American History is but a snapshot of time, as is all history. Black history is no more relevant or significant than white history or redhead history. Also, don’t suggest blacks have been marginalized throughout history and thus deserve their own category of history. One has nothing to do with the other. Here is a shocker: black people are no more special than white, brown, yellow, red or green people. We all are the same on the inside. It’s 2023…. Race is irrelevant.
