You have no idea what you linked. The rankings say top notch universities and below average math and reading test scores for HS students which aligns with my argument. Im arguing there isn’t a material difference in results of approach between NC and Florida two years after Covid as noted by strong SAT scores, not that Florida sucks.

My son started in fall 2020. It was modified environment and option to attend or stay home. My son is special needs so they allowed him to start in September. Most everybody else start around October, with modified schedules, smaller self confined class units, masking etc. We chose the option for our son to go back right away. It was pretty clear the risk to young people was very low at the time. I’d say on balance they did things right. I feel for those kids and parents where they stayed closed much of 2021 and 2022. I’m hesitant to throw stones, as it certainly was a danger to some teachers, such as older ones or ones with health issues.

And now you know why I ignored your SAT post lol. That said…more people will take the US World and News rankings with more weight for sure.

30% of US teaching staff 50 years or older. Over 2.5 million kids in the US live with a grandparent as their primary caregiver. This is millions of people, just by age, is at a higher danger of having a severe case of COVID. Throw in other comorbidities such as diabetes, asthma, and others, we are talking about millions of teachers and millions of caregivers who were at risk. To force kids to go to school before the vaccine became widely available was horrible policy. A policy that could have killed millions of more people.

Yes, now the mortality rate from COVID is low, but at its height, it was around 5% of confirmed cases in the US. But even at 1%, adults only, that's over 2 million deaths in the US. Non-pharmaceutical interventions were absolutely a necessity. And every country on Earth made changes because of COVID. And the ones that lagged like the UK and Sweden, saw awful early returns with even higher per capita death rates.

The generational damage has been done by ignoramuses who haven't followed the data, believe that they know better than experts with advanced degrees and decades of practice, and those who guessed they might be correct on one thing, got lucky, and now think they are the experts. Plenty of studies that have been linked here that show that non-pharmaceutical steps like closing schools does and did slow the spread of COVID. And before the vaccine, your best bet, especially if you had comorbidities was to avoid getting the virus.

Only a moron would look to US News rankings to determine Covid impact on primary and secondary education but if the shoe fits. ;) How is that at all relevant to our discussion? I have no idea what your point is or what you think you are providing information related to.

Was there anywhere that forced kids to attend school? I think in TX they had an option for stay at home.

5% seems high. My recollection for adults early on it was around 1%. Perhaps higher for older adults.

This page tracks US cases and deaths. Mortality rate for COVID has been hovering around 1% for a while. But click show graph and you can look at the rate over time. The death rate on Aug 12, 2020 was 4.97%.

While most schools in Arizona start late July or early August to beat the heat, most places would be deciding whether or not to return to school on this date.

The graph I looked at in your link showed a peak of around 2% in that time frame. I’m pretty sure 5% is wrong.

Daily Cases had a peak of around 75000. Daily Deaths had a peak around 1500 a couple of weeks later. That’s 2%.

I think his main point is to get attention. When he doesn't get enough attention here, he drags his talking points into other threads. When there aren't enough other threads for him to pollute, he has to start a Pub thread bragging about his life in Too Hot. A fascinating case study, but tiresome.

Microbiologist Kevin McKernan discovered concerning levels of DNA contamination in Pfizer and Moderna vials, including Simian Virus 40 (SV40) promoters tied to cancer development in humans:

"It's in both Moderna and Pfizer. We looked at the bivalent vaccines for both Moderna and…

Japanese Professor Murakami of Tokyo University expresses concerns over the alarming discovery of Simian Virus 40 (SV40) promoters, associated with human cancer development, in Pfizer vials: "The Pfizer vaccine has a staggering problem. I have made an amazing finding. This figure is an enlarged view of Pfizer's vaccine sequence. As you can see, the Pfizer vaccine sequence contains part of the SV40 sequence here. This sequence is known as a promoter. Roughly speaking, the promoter causes increased expression of the gene. The problem is that the sequence is present in a well-known carcinogenic virus. The question is why such a sequence that is derived from a cancer virus is present in Pfizer's vaccine. There should be absolutely no need for such a carcinogenic virus sequence in the vaccine. This sequence is totally unnecessary for producing the mRNA vaccine. It is a problem that such a sequence is solidly contained in the vaccine. This is not the only problem. If a sequence like this is present in the DNA, the DNA is easily migrated to the nucleus. So it means that the DNA can easily enter the genome. This is such an alarming problem. It is essential to remove the sequence. However, Pfizer produced the vaccine without removing the sequence. That is outrageously malicious. This kind of promoter sequence is completely unnecessary for the production of the mRNA vaccine. In fact, SV40 is a promoter of cancer viruses."

I recall the early speculation being 3% with up to 10% for very elderly, which actually didn’t seem far fetched based on what was going on in NYC and Italy. It wasn’t that long before South Korea did massive testing which credibly pegged it more like 1%. But it’s not like saying “hey 99% of us will live!” was anything but an idiotic argument to intentionally let the worst pandemic since Spanish flu just run wild. The earlier scenario “hey, 97% of us will live!” is straight up insane.

Obviously the Omicron Variant was much lower. Anecdotally, the last “wave” where the hospitals got tested from severely ill COVID patients was from the Delta variant in early ‘21. Omicron never did that, even though supposedly people were dying still every time I would ask how they were dealing with it the volume wasn’t there. They weren’t personally seeing the deaths that the peak Delta wave wrought (and that Delta wave was the worst of the two big cycles we saw).

So, they found fragments that were 72 base pairs. They looked up in a library and found a DNA fragment associated not with SV40, but as a promoter to increasing the reproduction of SV40. They then calibrated their PCR systems to be sensitive to fragments with 72 baes pairs and counted them. Then, somehow extrapolated that this was a SV40 promoter. Then, your half assed source twisted that into finding SV40 in the vaccines because that is scary.

Question : Do you even read the papers where your cr@p is sourced from? How much of them do you even understand??

I do not understand a lot of it, but I can follow most of it. The paper is valid research, your headline is total CRAP.

Maybe you could explain to everyone how a mRNA vaccine created with a synthetic RNA strand could have SV40 in it?? We would all love to hear it. I will even give you a hint (IT CAN'T).

even 1-2% is an alarmingly high death rate. I’m just trying to keep things factual.

The problem with right wingers is that they’ll literally find the first source that takes their position of “Covid shot bad”, assume it’s correct and based in fact, and then post it proudly like they have a “got ya!” moment when in reality it’s just garbage being regurgitated by garbage sites that are completely biased. Once you actually take time to read it, you can tell right away it’s utter nonsense.

Well worse is that this was really interesting research that did NOT imply what the "spin Tweet" said it did. I am convinced they can't read, or the few that can cannot understand any of what they read, therefore none of the other sheep will, so just tell whatever lie you want.
