Just don’t get the black uniform concept when your color scheme is orange and blue.

I’m not for or against it but just playing devils advocate. Our colors are orange and blue yet we wear white….so does it really matter?

I wonder what the winning percentage is in games for teams who wear black uniforms?

Almost all teams use white as a base color for home and away. Black, not so much.

Against Arkansas? I called it. Maybe the folks at UF who make these decisions were reading my posts in the recent uniform thread :p

I mean I get that. But when that started way way back in the day, did people complain that white isn’t our colors? Ultimately who cares, and if you do, why? Outside of “tradition”. I can care less as long as it’s not that puke green uniform from a few years ago. I ask in sincerity as to why it bothers people. I love the orange and blue, don’t get me wrong (see avatar)but maybe someone can educate me why it’s our colors because I’ve never seen an orange or blue Gator. I’m sure way back then there were people complaining about the color combo

Found the answer….so really, having black shouldn’t be a big deal since it was a color of a school Florida merged from.

In 1910, Florida adopted its two colors as an homage to the two schools that merged together to form UF: University of Florida at Lake City (blue) and East Florida Seminary (orange and black).

I realize it is for a good cause but, I think recognizing the armed forces could be accomplished without compromising our colors. Why not put insignias of each branch on helmets instead? Or arm patches.
Don’t mean to sound like an old Fuddy Duddy. Oh wait: That’s what I am.

Florida chose orange and blue for two reasons:
    1. It's a long story but we adopted those colors from the University of Virginia.
    2. Those colors fit perfectly with the State of Florida:
    Orange: The Florida Citrus Industry.
Blue: The fact that Florida's coastline (1,350 miles) is the longest in the lower 48 states and surrounds the State on three sides in blue.

I’m not sure why the Eagles are green and silver but there’s no reason for them to wear silver and blue…. It just that way.
