Its crazy to imagine we had the best 2nd baseman in the SEC playing for us as a HS senior. And he's only going to bet better. 3 out of 4 infielders are Gators as well.

And now the final pitching stats from the regular season....

    Pitcher ----------------- ERA WHIP
    Caglianone, Jac--------
    3.96 1.34
    Waldrep, Hurston------ 4.83 1.42
    Sproat, Brandon------- 4.85 1.17

    Nesbitt, Tyler---------- 3.26 1.45
    Neely, Brandon-------- 3.65 1.22
    Fisher, Cade------------ 3.69 1.33
    Slater, Ryan------------ 3.74 1.25
    Abner, Philip----------- 3.76 1.48
    Ficarrotta, Nick-------- 4.60 1.40
    Tejeda Jr., Yoel-------- 5.56 1.68
    Arroyo, Chris----------- 6.23 1.85
    Purnell, Blake---------- 8.15 1.75
    Hartzog, Clete---------- 8.53 2.05
    Jameson, Fisher------- 15.68 2.61
    Ursitti, Anthony-------- 20.25 3.00
    Finnvold, Carsten------ 36.00 4.00

    Notes
    1. If you would have told me our Friday-Saturday starters would both have an ERA higher than 4.8, I would have told you we would be worse than the last two teams.
    2. Before the season we were all going back and forth on Sproat or Waldrep being the best pitcher. Then Caglianone slid in there with the lowest ERA. Sproat still has the lower WHIP but all three of them had their issues.
    3. Tyler Nesbitt ended up with the lowest ERA but most of us believe if he mainly faced SEC teams his numbers would be much higher.
    4. I believe Brandon Neely's number could have been much lower if he wasn't pitching with as many big leads as we often had. Several of his outings were more about getting the outs to end the game than preventing any runs from scoring.
    5. Next year is an unknown at this point, but you have to think with two weekend openings we should have a few more arms wanting to stay. I'm not even going to mention Coppola again until fall ball starts up.

Said it and will say it again.
Cags our best pitcher last 2-3 weeks and who’d of thought Nesbitt would have our best era?? Even if we say his ERA would be much higher against more sec teams he’s still a valuable guy that will have to factor in at some point in our stretch run. Just for the heck of it let’s say we add a full run a game to his era for SEC. That 4.26 era is still good for this team.

Sproat’s 1.17 WHIP is excellent but he seems to have a bad inning which costs him on his ERA. I’m a huge believer in Sproat and hope he has the ball in his hand the last game of the season!

Good comments, but my preference is to stick with Halter and Robertson.

None of the other outfielders has numbers that make it an obvious decision. That makes it a defensive decision, which goes to Robertson. Similar circumstances at 3B. Thomas is an experienced IF, but hasn't broken into the lineup- I thought he had won 2B during the fall with better defense than Cade, but Cade was a consistent hitter in fall and preseason and D was good enough to win the battle.

Thomas is a major wild card. He has IF and OF experience and has hit well lately, but it's a tiny sample size. If there is a change at either IF or OF, I only see Thomas as a good option. That's based soley on game performance. I saw a lot of fall and preseason action, but no practice since Feb.

North Marion (north of Ocala) won their first state championship in any sport last week when they beat Miami Sunset 5-4 and then Jacksonville Bishop Kenney 5-0 to win the title. Gator signee Hunter Jones pitched a complete game against Sunset, giving up 3 earned runs with 13 K's. South Georgia State signee, Karson Lindsey, pitched a 1 hit shutout in the championship game.

Great to know, thanks Ocala. I recall seeing they had made the finals but totally forgot to follow. Thanks for the details. Is it okay to call them a pipeline, ya think?

A lineup I would have never imagined at the start of spring practices. I doubt Sully did either.

Thanks Gators for two great nights. Tomorrow's not going to be a good day for me, got to bury one of our dogs. These games kept my mind off of the inevitable. Raise one for my boxer dog Daisy as she passes on. She's been a special dog, protector and lover, for my family and kids for over 10 years now. See yall again on Saturday, thanks.

Anyone questioning me now that BT over the last few weeks has been seeing the ball much better??? LOL
I got some funnies when I said he no longer had many empty swings. A lot more foul tips and foul balls.

We put my Daisy down about seven years ago. She was 9. Stomach cancer got her. I don’t wish that feeling on anyone.
