I don’t think anyone has said anything about Shelnut badly misplaying the 11th inning fly ball at him. Not sure Evan’s would have caught it but Sully may seriously think about putting Evans in the latter innings.
I was reading in bed and the Twitter told be Bama was up 6-3. I was immediately philosophical about it. Just not our night. Checked a few minutes later. Dan Hicken tweeted “4 spot in the B11”. I thought “No way.” Just then my son texted be the news. Woke up at 0100 to pee and had to go watch the highlights. Way to go, Gators!
I said as much but you surely don’t when you take a couple steps in which made it look much worse than it was.
And I was wondering why Sully didn't pitch hit for Riopelle against the lefty in that situation. Just as the announcer remarked at how BT's average was at a season low....BOOM!!!! I guess that is why they pay Sully the big bucks.
The 2 losers games are first on Thursday. Florida/Vandy is the 4th game of the day, so plan on staying up late!!
Just listened to the radio play by play of the 11th inning. But the "not a brown eyed handsome man" initially said it was a well hit ball to right. Ya' think? That was a bomb. That was a no doubter. To go old school, that was a tater.
Shelly was playing in (no doubt on instruction from bench) and seemed to first break in on the ball before recovering and the ball flying well over his head- it was a rocket shot and the way the outfield was positioned no one could have caught it.
What has not been said: before the stunning heroics from our guys, Bama was mostly out playing us. Our approach at the plate was puzzling- taking perfect center cut fastballs for strikes and then chasing breaking pitches in the dirt. It was painful to watch. The out-of-the-blue win is a big boost to our chances for a #2 or #3 national seed. Win tonight and #2 seed is nearly assured. GO Gators
