Agree 100%. And yes I am a skeptic. The story sounds great but upon closer inspection, it's more like what you describe as a gift to donors.
Not only can they keep running cattle and growing crops, they can harvest sod and lease the hunting rights for $10-12 per acre too. It's a fleecing plain and simple...but at least the land is protected from development!

Chinese citizens sue Florida over property buying ban - BBC News

A group of Chinese citizens working and living in Florida is challenging a new law that bans them from buying property in the state. The American Civil Liberties Union, a civil rights group representing the plaintiffs, said the law is unconstitutional and discriminatory. The ban would also impact Chinese Americans, and people of Asian descent, the suit says.

"Florida's discriminatory property law is unfair, unjustified, and unconstitutional," Ashley Gorski, senior staff attorney at the ACLU, said in a statement. "Everyone in the United States is entitled to equal protection under our laws, including citizens of other countries."

The plaintiffs, represented by ACLU and two other groups, say that in practice, Florida's law will lead to broad discrimination against these communities in the state, including everyday residents and American citizens. The legislation applies to owning property within 10 miles of a "critical infrastructure facility" and also bars foreign entities from Russia, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, and Syria.

Those zones include airports, military installations, spaceports, refineries, electrical power plants, water and waste treatment facilities, or seaports. Foreign entities are also banned from purchasing agricultural land.

 

Florida pride

A Florida man who authorities say was trespassing at a McLean, Va., preschool Tuesday had an AK-47 rifle and other weaponry in his car and told officers he wanted to go to CIA headquarters, Fairfax County police said.


Officers arrested Eric Sandow, 32, of Florida, and charged him with felony possession of a firearm on the property of Dolley Madison Preschool, police said in a statement. Attempts to reach Sandow’s family were not immediately successful.


About 11 a.m., police were called to the preschool after a community member saw a “strange man on the property,” police said. The preschool’s board of directors said in a statement Wednesday that the man police arrested had wanted to use the preschool’s bathroom but was told no by the staff.


Police said officers found Sandow, who said he had weapons inside his car. Police searched the car and found an AK-47 and a pistol, along with magazines and ammunition, officials said. Officials wrote on Twitter that Sandow said he had been making his way to the CIA, which is near the school.
