Or tune it out and get rid of it. Any decent coach doesn’t tolerate it on the team but they can’t do anything about idiot fans.
They are. Constant moaning and whining though is not the tone nor the look we want to convey as Gator Country. Everyone in the world, including recruits, players, coaches, and their family and friends, and media who want cheap, easy storylines, can read these free boards. I don't know why some have trouble understanding that . . . unless they actually do understand that perfectly and want the world to read their moanings as indicative of Gator fans. @rmonteag, I'd also be careful betting against @g8orbill . . . He knows what's actually going on.
The height of hypocrisy. You trot over here from too hot, throw around sarcastic potshots at our coach, cry like a baby when someone (I’m only one) tells you you’re full of crap, then run back to too hot. You know nothing about the factors in play with our team - just bash our coach because he didn’t meet your unrealistic expectations in his first year. You and I can have our different opinions on AR and I’m just fine with that. It’s the nature of a message board. Problem is, it’s you who can’t handle the disagreement not me. You know so little about what you’re arguing you’re constantly contradicting yourself. So I call you out and you resort to name calling. Yorkie? LOL I have no problem when you disagree with my opinion — yet you always seem so outraged when I argue back. Or when I point out the hypocrisy in your flip flopping arguments, and when you contradict yourself as you always try to take some mythical high ground. You’re too easy You and I are oil and water coop. We agree on nothing. It is what it is, and it’s alright.
While I may have unpopular opinions, I don’t go out of my way to be unnecessarily rude or snarky to posters I don’t agree with, which is a common theme with you as evidenced by other posters saying the same thing. Anyway, back to the topic.
I understand the argument for patience, but that also has degrees. He needs to give us a taste of improvement this season. That means a winning record, showing up to a bowl with a team that looks like it came to win, and not dropping losses to teams like Vandy and Kentucky. Another losing season (and another recruiting class outside of the top 10, which would naturally follow) and he’s a dead man walking in 2024. No one has to like it, but no amount of emotional articles or threads pleading for patience is going to change it.
Dude we both have opinions that are popular and unpopular. You have a bunch of buddies over here from too hot who agree with each other and disagree with me. I am one among many here who stand behind our new coaching staff and disagree with you and other negative posters. Interesting enough, when politics occasionally surface over here we are generally divided along similar lines. I’ve always found that interesting because it’s a clear indication of our value differences. But I’m certainly no more “snarky” or rude in my rebuttals than you are, it just seems that way to you. It’s easy to catch you being hypocritical or contradicting yourself. When I do, you take that as being snarky or whatever, but really it’s just frustration at being called out. Coop, when one loses an argument, it isn’t necessarily the other guy’s fault
What a couple of us have been trying to say is that's YOUR metric of "improvement" . . . but not necessarily the one that counts inside the building. Did you read the article? “We’re incredibly pleased with the way Billy is going about building our program,” Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin told me on Friday. “I don’t see any way that Billy won’t be successful. It just may take a little longer than some people want it to take.” Coach Napier is not going to be a "dead man walking in 2024" no matter what some impatient fans might want if success or "improvement" doesn't happen per their demands and on their schedule.
And what I am saying is that if he does not show actual, tangible improvement in the field, in terms of victories, then it won’t matter what kinds of things are getting better behind the scenes. The hue and cry will get too loud. That’s just the way it is.
Yes, there is always a hue and cry from some. Modern social media just amplifies the sound from a few. While winning national championships in the Tim Tebow years, there was a hue and cry that Florida "wasn't scoring enough." The noise isn't indicative of anything behind the scenes though usually. That's the difference. To suggest Coach Napier will be a "dead man walking in 2024" based on any noise outside the building is just wrong.
I hope you’re right. I hope things do turn around under Napier. I am as sick as any Gator of watching our program founder in a state of mediocrity or worse. Even more galling to watch our enemies adjust to new realities while we sniff that we don’t need modern facilities or we don’t need to compete in the NIL arms race. You will please forgive me for having low confidence after last season’s inexcusably poor performance coupled with sequential recruiting classes that failed to inspire. I am ready to be persuaded that all is on the mend.
The legitimate gripes you voice here all point to the years before Billy Napier arrived. It’s easy to take our frustration out on the guy at the wheel now, but that is grossly unfair and misdirected
I get what you are saying about offensive scheme. And, to a degree, I think that is (or, at least, had been) what makes college football more fun than the NFL, the varieties of offense that you see, and the use of a running quarterback. But you are not going to win consistently in the SEC (especially now) without great athletes on defense. Dan Mullen was a great example of being able to scheme advantages offensively, but not having the athletes on defense, and that was with top ten recruiting. During Florida's haydays, there were still great athletes on defense. In 1996, Javon Kearse (Javon Kearse!!!) was on special teams because he could not crack the starting lineup.
I don't care what offense he runs as long as it works. Hell, he can run the wishbone for all I care. We can debate all we want but we all know the 24 season will tell us what we want to know.
