People who really don’t know what they’re talking about. And the absurd thing is, they actually think they know more than a head football coach at this level. Nothing but noise

I was disappointed when things got sideways with our team under Urban Meyer: In large part because he was hiding it behind the squeaky clean image of Tim Tebow. I felt betrayed when it came to light we had multiple players carrying guns, one player stalking a woman, but even after several incidents, at least one of which GPD had to be called, he remained on the team, and another player doing lord only knows what. That player’s career and life ended tragically.
Elements of that culture reappeared in Mullens tenure after a promising start. It was spiraling out of control just as it had under Meyer. That is what CBN inherited, along with a roster that was totally unbalanced and recruiting grounds that had been neglected by lazy recruiting practices. That’s how I see it.
I also feel a lot of positive energy from Napier and am greatly impressed with his high character, work ethic and administrative ability. That said, I also think he is learning and that’s better than not learning.
Those that think we are going to see a huge jump in productivity from our Gators this year I ask them to consider that this is a marathon: not a sprint. I would also ask them to look at our freaking schedule.
The constant negativity directed at Napier by a few serves no good purpose, in my opinion. When I read some of the posts on this site I only hope he and his family and our recruits don’t see them.

you can’t have a “traditional “ offense in the SEC and win consistently unless you’re pulling in top 5 classes. That’s what he’s aiming for but who knows? It doesn’t leave any schematic room for error. The decision to run bunch sets when you don’t have the personnel for it speaks to a larger issue of his mindset. He’s methodical and paced and if he’s right/ he’ll be one of the greatest ever here and the impatient boo birds will eat crow…but if he fails to get top 5 classes, he’ll be Muschamp and we will all be bored to death

Posts like this remind me of a famous Stanford psychology experiment done in the late '60's and early '70's. In that experiment, psychologists presented children with a choice: You can have a marshmallow now, or you can wait until later today, and we will give you extra marshmallows. Some children wanted the marshmallow right away, while others waited until later and got more.

The psychologists followed the subjects for forty years, and compared how the two groups fared. The children who were able to delay gratification were quite successful in life overall; the children who had to have their marshmallow right away didn't fare nearly as well.

We have canned three consecutive coaches, and now people on this board are already grousing about Napier after only one season. Ridiculous. Everyone who paid attention knew that Mullen was a lazy recruiter, and IMO won his first two years because of McElwain's talent. When that talent left, the wheels came off.

If you look at the trajectory of three of UF's best coaches-Pell, Spurrier and Meyer- one thing is crystal clear: talent matters. Pell inherited probably one of the last talented teams in the last fifty years, and went 0-10-1 his first season. But he could coach and recruit, and he turned things around and put a powerhouse team on the field. Hall left Spurrier a talented roster and Spurrier took full advantage and won right away. Had Emmitt not gone pro, I think Spurrier's first team would have gone undefeated, and Emmitt would have won the Heisman. Zook also could recruit and left a talented team for Meyer, who won it all in year two. Napier isn't so lucky, and has a major rebuild on his hands and deserves time.

If we keep running coaches off, and don't give Napier the opportunity to build the program, we won't win anything for a long time. Those that need to have their marshmallow right away and post such premature and absurd negativity on this board do nothing but create a toxic environment that only hurts the program.

In the words of the immortal Archie Bunker "Stifle Edith".

I am amazed at how many people just default to the worst case scenario. And these are the same people who aren’t satisfied with anything short of immediate excellence. So they naturally expect the worst, while they demand the best.

I don’t know how they enjoy a day, let alone a 4 month football season.

    In my head--- UF
Most of the worst social media posts are directed AT CBN on Twitter if he even reads them.

On a totem pole, recruits are on be real, tik tok, snap, IG, twitter, twitch, youtube

GC is the province of mostly older white males. On3 gets some of them reading about themselves.

Not sure what you are expecting in 2023. Seems like its going to be a rough season/near repeat from last year.

His clock mismanagement last season was particularly appalling. Also, the complete neglect of special teams was a huge concern. Play calling was not great either. Hopefully he gets it all corrected this year.

He really should follow the Saban model and focus on being CEO of the team. Let other people call the plays.

Agree with what you say but very important we add a few more transfers. We lack depth at edge and need a number 2 receiver yet that transfer time is running out. Could use one more offensive lineman too.

Wish I could like this 1,000 times. Guy is like an annoying little Yorkie barking at every poster he disagrees with.

As for the actual topic, of course patience is needed. But in this era of instant gratification where consumers want to see fast results, who knows if the coach will be given ample time to produce the needed results. I guess time will tell.

Top 5 classes are absolutely necessary to win. No coach will consistently beat Bama and Georgia with inferior talent. Schemes my ass, you need talent, plain and simple.

So what you are saying is that we have to wait until 40 years from now to receive our better stuff? Maybe that is okay for Moses, but I think us regular Jews are going to grouse a bit.

Could we split the difference and share a second marshmallow in say 4 years?

There’s probably a finite amount of m to buy the players your speaking of. We aren’t making a run this year, it’s not going to happen. We don’t have anywhere near the talent. What talent we do have is mostly 18-19 year olds. If Napier turns this thing around, it will be with these youngsters in 24 and 25 when Lagway is in his second year. We clearly aren’t spending the kind of money a handful of teams are but we are taking in some very talented players, they are just young with more on the way. A smart program would buy more young guys for 25 and beyond than spend our limited payroll on upperclassmen for this year. Maybe right now players could get us another win or two this year but they would be gone by the time Lagway is ready. I’m more for the slow build and getting guys that will be here several years. Spend the money on the upcoming class instead of transfers.

He will be given the time and he will succeed or fail. Some will bitch and moan the entire time until then either way and it’s obvious who that will be.

Play calling is a concern and an oc may be necessary. I’ll wait until he has the talent to make tgat judgement. Take the lack of even attempting a two minute offense, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that. I give him tge benefit of the doubt on that one. I’d be willing to bet they practiced it and decided to not make that part of the gameplan. Maybe Napier can’t plan a two minute offense or maybe the players weren’t capable of throwing six quick passes in a row without a catastrophe in practice against our stellar defense..

If the players are told to be mentally strong enough to deal with fans bitching and moaning about their performance, then I suspect grown, mature coaches should be strong enough to deal with it, too.
